Pattern for a back baby sling???

I need to make some kind of back carrier/sling to carry my 18 lbs DS. I own a costume shop at a Renaissance faire, and I need to have DS on my back while I help customers. He is 10 months, and when I have tried to wear him in the front at home, he reaches for everything! Since at the Faire I will be holding scissors, pins and ribbon, I know he will try to grab them!

I am a good sewer, I can make one (it will have to be in time period like fabric). I need instructions on how to wear something like that. I have tried to rewrap my Maya wrap, but can't figure a way to keep him there.

Anyone know of a good site for this?

Thanks Mommas!

Is this what you were looking for?

I have a pattern for a Korean baby carrier (podeagi) on my site -- it's meant to be used on one's back, and while it might not be strictly period for Europe, it's been used in the East for a long time. Podeagi

I've also carried my son (who is now 3) on my back with a regular unpadded sling. You start with the rings on your back, put the child in on your hip, then pull the rings (carefully) towards your shoulder where they usually rest, bringing the baby around your side to your back. Make sure the fabric is pulled snugly around the baby before trying to move the sling, of course. You end up with sort of a back/hip carry. I don't know how clear that is. The first couple of times, it helps to have someone watching and helping as you pull the sling around, just to spot the baby and make sure nothing happens.
