I live in a small town in eastern NM and I see the same thing all the time. I have only met one other woman in this town who has nursed her baby, and for some reason or the other, she was supplementing her with formula. What I hate is the total ignorance. My third child will be born 19 months after my second. I have other mothers I know constantly telling me I should bottle feed this one to "give myself a break", and "Nothing bad is going to happen to my baby by formula feeding it" Gag!! I cannot belelive it. I refrain from telling them exactly what I think of formula cause I do not want to insult them and thier choices, but it is getting to where I am going to tell them anyway. It is funny cause I read somehwere on a site a while back that NM had one of the highest rates of bf'ing for the first 6 months. None of those bf'ers seem to be in my town though. The women here seem too busy chasing men, and/or drugs around to even be home with their kids, let alone nurse them. Morons!
