So I usually only work Friday and Saturday nights. We own a restaurant and I go in on the busy weekend nights to schmooze with guests, eat a nice meal with my husband without my kids asking for bites, and help the servers if they get overwhelmed and make things run smoothly on a hectic night.
I haven't worked for 2 weeks, for different reasons, not like I really WANTED to work.
So last night, they're short staffed, and they didn't want to call me in, but they did because otherwise we wouldn't have been able to serve everyone well.
From the minute I arrived there, I was having contractions 3-5 minutes apart, all night long. Eating didn't stop them. Drinking didn't stop them. I was so excited, and it was so hard to smile. I ended up serving two tables and they were very patient with me.
I snapped at a former employee who came in during the dinner rush, claiming that legally she HAD to get her final check on the day she was fired. ACTUALLY- in our state, that check is due to her on the next scheduled payday, and why the heck would I go out of my way to make a check for her when she wouldn't go "out of her way" to do her job? Go home, stupid little brat and quit inventing laws. I have employed over 250 people in the past year, do you really think that you're the first one who ever thought of that bogus line. AND- to top it off, there's no law stating that I have to give it to you before the bank closes that day, so keep pushing me- I am 9 months pregnant and I am not in the mood to deal with you.
Anyhow- I guess I needed to vent about her.
So I went home, took my vitamins and laid in bed watching the contractions continue for about 45 minutes until I fell asleep.
Well here I am, wide awake (good morning), no baby. No contractions.
I'll have lunch with my mother and do some baby shopping and hopefully have more contractions tonight at work. Something has to put an end to all of this.
