Maybe today? Or tomorrow?

Okay, Gina, don't get excited and pink me out yet!

Yesterday I was having cramps and mild contractions... the kind that make you said, "Oh! I think that was a contraction! Oh my!"

Starting late last night, I've been having occasional, sporadic CONTRACTIONS that last 15-30 seconds. The kind that make you say, "Ow ow ow ow ow." They are anywhere from 8 to 38 minutes apart, though, so I don't feel like I can count on them.

I'm almost hoping that my water breaks so that I know for sure things are moving along. My mom and sister are on tenterhooks, waiting for the phone call.

I sent my husband and son out to a birthday party... I didn't really want to go and risk having my water break in public FOR THE SECOND TIME (especially when it's someone's sofa in question, rather than a movie theater seat). I think I'm going to go out and shovel some compost to see if that gets things going.

Had a contraction about a half hour ago but nothing since. : Starting to think it might be tomorrow instead.

Going out to rake some leaves now. Danged baby! He just doesn't take direction.

Six hours later... the contractions are pretty consistent at 10-12 minutes apart and about 30-45 seconds each. I think we are on our way, just don't know when it will be time to leave the house, etc. My husband has been really looking forward to us laboring alone at the house, but with a 2 hour drive ahead of them I don't know how late it would be kind to have my mom and sis wait before they head down to our house.

My doula told me something interesting... she said that more important than the frequency of the contractions is the length of them, because the longer they are the more work they are doing. She said that once they reach about 45 seconds in length, then you can be confident that it's the real deal and they aren't going to peter out.

So... hopefully we will be having an 11-11 baby! I hope I can get a little rest before things really take off.

I've got MDC open on one screen and Contraction Master open on the other.... while watching Maisie with my son. Still contracting strongly but sporadically. I'll try to post before we set out for the hospital, whenever that may be.
