It was a wonderful birth! It started at 2.40a.m. and I slept off and on until 6a.m., when William (DS#1) woke up... He and Daddy ran a few errands while I tidied up and tried to relax. He dropped William off at our friends' house, where Grandma and Grandpa later picked him up to spend the day with him... and then he (DH) came back and we went for a long walk. Ctx were very consistent at about 2-3 minutes, 45-ish seconds. We got home and I was very sleepy, so I rested and dozed on our bed for about an hour and a half... It was very rejuvenating, and ctx slowed down quite a bit. That made me nervous because I didn't want to prolong labor--or for it to taper off! (Each of my two births now, I haven't really believed that the baby was for sure coming until I was pushing!) As soon as I got up, ctx started again and were more intense and lasting longer... and the time between ctx got shorter. Our doula joined us at 3p.m. and at that point, I still felt like I was managing well. It was nice to have some extra support, though. DH called our midwife to give her an update (we had talked to her a few times throughout the day) and I heard him say that I was getting less talkative between ctx... I guess that informoation told her that she needed to come! I would have said that we were still fine on our own, but Holden arrived about 1 1/2 hours after they showed up! She checked me soon after they got here and I was at 7-8cm. I was shocked! I had myself prepared for being at a 3 or 4 because it really wasn't as hard as last time around. Last time, I labored for a long, long time, to show up at the birth center and be declared a 3!!! That was depressing! It continued to go very quickly from there and since I was so far along, I was able to get in the water. I labored in there the rest of the time... transition was very easy (hard work, no doubt... but much easier than last time!) and I pushed for 12 minutes, they said. It was sooo much easier than my first birth. That birth was great too, but SO much harder!!! This time, I didn't tear and I am hardly bleeding. I feel great but am trying to take it easy so I don't wear myself out! Holden is nursing wonderfully and William is enamored by him! There are pictures on our blog... www.maclolo.blogspot.com Thanks for reading
