3 hr GTT I need info! UPDATED post #22 - Page 2

Hi Nina,

Waving hello to you here in your town, mama!
I had supposed GD with my first - similar slightly elevated levels...
I second reading Henci Goer's info on the whole thing...her research was my amunition for leaving the OB practice I was with, because they started pushing lots and lots of things...scheduling induction dates, etc.
I went to a family practice MD who was much more laid back and let me "control" my levels with exercise and watching my carbs and taking blood levels on myself.

Sam was born on his due date, at 8 pounds 3 ounces. Second baby, my CNM didn't even require testing or anything...homebirthed that one.

Hope to see you soon and thinking of your three wonderful children. Hugs to your little musical man

UPDATE:
So the number was 144.
The cut off is 140.

I told him there was no way I was going to be able to fast that long. I asked him if I could take the 1 hour again.
He said nope ... but is having me test my sugars every morning for a week. As long as they are below 95 we are good. If any are above 95 then I will test 4 times a day so we can try and find where and when the issue is happening. And then told me to be more concientious about my diet. (duh!)

He didn't want to let it go completely... but doesn't seem worried about it in the least.

He also said that as long as you are able to control your numbers with diet he doesn't consider you high risk GD. Won't even out in in the part of my chart that goes to the hospital....so they don't change thier protocol (ie keeping the baby to test his sugars and pushing formula)
He won't push for early induction or try and scare me with big baby stories and say I need a cesarean or anything.

YIPPE!!!!!

Of course the pharmacy doesn't carry the only glucometer that my insurance will cover so I won't get to pick it up until tomorrow.

I think I got the outcome I wanted out of this.....
thanks everyone for the suggestions and info.

Nina
