Kinds of dipes...

Ok I know:
AIO have the outter fabric the PUL and the soaker upper thing and then the layer that goes against babies skin All sew together.

Pocket dipes have the outter the PUL and then the fabric against babes skin and a pocket to put he soaker upper thing...

The cover type has just the PUL and outter fabric and you put the saoker thing against babes skin...

What is a FITTED Dipe?

What other kinds are there?

Velcro/appliqux verse snaps... Which sells better? Which is do you prefer and why?

If you make/sell dipes how did you start? (I know that prob belongs in the wahm part)

Thanks,
Anna

a fitted dipe has elastic legs and waist, and closes with either pins, velcro, snappis or snaps (*I* just put a cover over mine, with no closures at all!)

I think velcro dipes sell well, but recently started getting requests for snaps

How did I start? Out of necessity for my own babies, then I became addicted, and needed to supplement our income (6 kidlets, here)
Hope that answers some of your questions! Feel free to PM me, if ya have any more!

It's a tossup on whether "velcro" or snaps sell better. It's really a preference thing for the user. But if you make dipes, don't use velcro brand. Buy the good hook-and-loop (Aplix or TouchTape) online.

Honestly, if you're new to CDing, put the selling diapers idea on the back burner. The WAHM diaper market is pretty saturated, and if you're new to cloth dipes in general, it is really in your best interest to take some time first to get to know what all the different types are and all the different materials that are used. And if you're new to sewing, then you also need lots of practice first. There are a ton of tutorials in the second sticky where you'll be able to find out about all the different varieties of cloth diapers and covers and how they are made. There are also free patterns, but if you are wanting to sell diapers, you will need to either buy a pattern and a licensing agreement or draft your own original pattern--it is copyright infringement to use someone's pattern to sell from without permission.

I started selling dipes for similar reasons as the PP--I make all of my LOs' dipes myself, and what I normally do is buy double what I need to make "my" dipes and then use the "extra" fabric to make something for my HC. It doesn't bring in much (I couldn't live off it), but it covers the cost of materials.

Also think about the extra features. The laundry tabs. attached liners for easy drying, adjustablilty

I like AIOs with hook & loop myself. I agree with doing plenty of research before going into business.

Personally, I don't like the PUL that much... my kids always end up with rashes when I use it too much. We love wool and fleece around our house.
