Knit wool soaker question - soaker pants?

Somewhere I saw a pattern or a picture of knit soaker pants - a soaker with legs, looked like knit sweatpants. The were very cute and I think they'd be great for my winter baby (due in Nov).

But do you think they'd work? Do you need that leg band around the upper thigh to keep the leaks in? If it works, does anyone know where I could find a pattern?

I haven't had a chance to try out soakers yet, as this is my first baby. Maybe I'll just make knit pants and use them over a dappi or prorap cover, but the soaker pants seem like a nifty 2 in 1 idea.

We use soaker pants a lot in the winter - I make them out of sweater sleeves, but I know other people knit them. Yes, they truly are a nifty dual-purpose item!
To answer your question, no, you really don't need to have a leg band at the thigh. A pull-on diaper cover of any type needs a securely fastened diaper, and that is what you would rely on for keeping in leaks. I prefer a good elastic-leg fitted diaper inside my wool covers. Sure, you do sometimes get poop accidents, but that happens with pants over covers, too. It's not a problem unique to wool pants.
