I went for a blood draw this morning to check levels. The nurse said I won't hear anything until tomorrow. I hope I hear today, though.

ekblad9- Oh I hope you hear something soon!

I called my dr office this morning to get a "confirm pregnancy" appt, basically I just want the blood work and maybe an u/s to see the lil bean, the lady wouldn't let me get an appt with MY dr and instead sent me over to obgyn, I don't want obgyn darnit
My appt isn't until the 28th though I'm planning to use my dr office for all the lab work and the u/s at 20 weeks then I'm "dropping" them for my midwife. After 20 weeks they start getting very pushy with the tests and appts and such over there, so I am just gonna tell them I'm transferring to someone closer to home. Its true anyway, she lives 5 miles away :

Just got back from prenatal/postpartum aerobics at the Y and now I am starving! Time for the old PBJ sandwich.

All 3 kids are sick, 2 sound like croup at night, and my husband I have cold as well. Really it's not bad since this is the first cold we've had all season, and I'd rather everyone get it all at once and get over it and move on. Good way to spend a weekend.

Still feeling good here!

Logistically I was contemplating where the heck I'm going to put clothes and diapers for a 4th child! We have a small house with only 2 bedrooms upstairs, and as it is the changing table/dresser is in the bathroom now to accommodate a dresser for the older boys in their room. This is gonna be tricky!

I refuse to get sick this time! I keep telling my body NO MORNING SICKNESS! Ok I'm totally quesasy. But I'm more dizzy and crampy then anything.

I can't wait to meet my midwives! We went with a doc last time, it was ok but not what I wanted. However I do have to wait a couple weeks. It's killing me. I can't tell anyone and can't talk about it to anyone IRL!

Hubby told me I didn't have to wait til Christmas tho! I can tell people as soon as my parents get back! That's a week. I can't handle a week:

I'm still trying to set up an interview with a local midwife -- called last week but she never responded. I've been told that calls from my house phone and answering machines don't mix very well, so I called again with my cell phone to make sure the second message is pretty clear.

I hope I hear back from her this time, my doula friend said that she can be hard to get ahold of -- I assume this isn't the case if you're actually in labor!

I'm thinking about setting up an interview with another midwife that I know will be to reach because she has an actual office with staff. But based on everyone's comments who's birthed with her, I get the feeling that her style isn't for me -- but she is actually on my insurance which is one less headache.

yeah yeah, ekblad. i hope you hear today instead. i hate the waiting.

veganf-i hope everyone gets better fast.

i am feeling ok, i guess. just queasy. and a little tired. we have friends coming into town this week so i hope it stays this mild.

now that i know i have my mw i am just kind of relaxing. i need to call my insurance company and set aside some $ for the mw. i am a little annoyed at my planning, i have to give this huge deposit right around christmas, lol. that's what credit cards are for, i guess.

I am going to get my second beta level drawn today, it's been 96 hours so it should've more than doubled since last week according to Wiki.

Quote:
Below an hCG level of 1,200 mIU/ml the hCG usually doubles every 48–72 hours, though a rise of 50–60% is still considered normal. Between 1,200 and 6,000 mIU/ml serum the hCG usually takes 72–96 hours to double, and above 6,000 mIU/ml, the hCG often takes more than four days to double.
I am just a wee bit high strung about all of this. I hate the first trimester and all the anxiety it brings. My life was zipping along before, and now it seems like each day is the longest.day.ever. I look at the pregnancy ticker things, and think, "You've got to be kidding me! I have how long to go?"

I am also a little irritable. :

I always feel like the 1st trimester just creeps along. For me, beyond that it goes fairly quick. There are of course times that I think the babe will never come, but in the end I never get everything I wanted to done before the whole 9 months is over. Looking back it always seems so quick!

Today is a great day. Seriously, I haven't felt this good or happy or well rested in a long time. It's the calm before the storm, and I have no reason to be well rested unless I'm just used to the 5 hours of sleep I get every night as the human milk machine to my constantly nursing 12 month old.

I hit all the bargain clearance bins for maternity clothes this weekend. I love finding shirts for $3.20. (Kohl's) and I bought some jeans and some cute tops - it's tough, since I'm still nursing most of the very few maternity shirts I didn't give away, won't work for nursing. It's funny how I think when I'm pregnant I should look cute and nice and have new clothes, but when I'm not, I wear paint splattered sweat pants and shirts with holes in them. hahaha.

I went to the Dr's today for a 2nd HCG draw. AND - how awesome is this? - I got so lightheaded, I had to lie down on the floor!!! How embassarring. The poor phlebotomist had to give me a pillow and got me a glass of grape juice. That's never happened to me before. Since then, I have been SO nauseous. Did stop me from hitting Target, but still. ;-) No food looks good to me right now and I'm SO thirsty my lips are cracked. You know your about to have bad morning sickness when the taste of bottled spring water makes you nauseous.

Hope you all having a great day!

Hello ladies. I'm sorry to hear that that m/s is hitting so hard. Here's hoping that all of your coping strategies work!!

Here, not much nausea is going on. My stomach is upset and food might smell differently or taste different.... but we are no where near actual vomiting. Is that weird? I'm a lot calmer since we saw the heartbeat on Friday, but then everyone keeps asking me if I'm feeling all right and I mostly just feel like I have a cold. Now I'm paranoid because I'm not actually throwing up. Clearly, the baby is doing just fine without it! Why that doesn't answer my question, I don't know. I was always a picky eater though... so this all seems a lot like non-pregnant life.

Also, we hit an outlet mall on our way back from a trip this weekend... and I didn't buy anything because I have no idea how long it might fit! I'm kind of really curious about maternity clothes but afraid to go in there in case I'm not pregnant 'enough'.

That's wonderful!
:
I won't have my first ultrasound until I am more than 8 weeks along and the wait is killing me!
That's good news!

I keep being tempted to give my midwife a call just so I can figure out my exact due date. So stupid a reason, since I know it's gonna be between the 18th-23rd, not a very big deal. But having that magic number to write on the calendar and figure out from there when I'd be 37 weeks and 42 weeks (for homebirth safety purposes) always makes me feel like I have more of a target due time.

And not telling relatives is driving me crazy, but I really think it'll be fun telling everyone on xmas eve.

: Just wanted to poke my head into the July 2008 DDC as a July 2007 DDC member and say- enjoy it mamas! Just think- by next year at this time, you will be holding a little chubby, squealing and bubble-blowing munchkin, approximately 3-4 months old! It goes by so fast.

and- anonymousk! I think I remember you from the One Thread from long ago- congrats!!!

Now to run, because the computer aggravates my little July 2007 babe...

Hah, I was checking out the maternity section in Kohl's today and was pleased at the couple of dollars clearance for summer maternity wear. Sadly there were only a couple of pieces that were XL, but S-L were pretty well covered.

I was in Gymboree today buying a baby shower gift for a friend, and I couldn't resist buying something for my baby. I bought a little unisex green footie and matching hat with an in the woods theme. It has these cute tiny gnomes on it; green is one of my favorite colors, so I just love it. Everything I got was on the sales racks, so I didn't end up spending too much.

I just got my second HCG levels back today - I had to beg the triage nurse since my Dr's assistant had the day off. They were 4112. They were 1223 on Friday.
I think it's a little high for 20DPO, but they didn't say anything about it so I guess I'm OK.
