I totally agree, especially statistics!

That's great! I hope you can get some good study time in.

This coming winter quarter will be my last as well. Which really does not make it ANY easier. People keep saying, you are almost done! Yeah, but I still have to take three more classes!!

Good job on your test! I don't really suffer from test anxiety, more like study anxiety. Usually, for tests, I've done all I can and I just choose the answer that first comes to mind. Then I NEVER go back and change things. I usually get in trouble that way.

And welcome to new folks! I haven't been here lately, because I haven't been studying : I sanded my hardwood floors this weekend and totally did not do a thing. I just have one assignment due tomorrow that I have not started on and I can feel myself slipping back into my old routines. I'm sure other people do this, but I guess I figured I have a four day weekend, so I"ll be able to get a ton of stuff done. But what will probably happen is I'll spend lots of time with family and be having too much fun to go and study. I guess I just need to force myself.

Anyway, hope everyone is doing well and trying to stay stress-free as much as possible.

PS I figured out how to use the multi-quote thing, hope you don't mind me getting a little quote happy!

Not much studying at all. The peanut gallery (aka mom and kids) kept bugging me when I got started.

Today though I finished Don Quijote and The Prophet and will be writing the papers up on them later. I also got 1/2 of one of my Ind Study articles read and annotated.

So, we're making progress.

That's great, Mamachel-at least you accomplished something. I, on the other hand, have been totally slacking off. I do need to do a homework assignment that is due this evening and I haven't started it yet. So I'll be working on and off throughout the day. I just can't seem to get myself up at 5am on a regular basis unless a large test looms over my head.
Sara - Did you get your work done?

mamaChel - Progress is good, it sounds like you've made a LOT of it!

Sara - 5am is not my ideal thinking time, I think my brain wakes up around 8am even though my body is up between 5a and 6a. Good luck with your assignment.

I have nothing due right now. In my statistics class I'm up to my midterm (it's on online dynamically-dated course) and I can't continue my assignments until I do that so I'm going to head in to the testing center to take it next week - open note and open book. My music class has no assignments just a test on 12/8 and then that class is done. My English class will be having peer reviews on our final essay but those won't be due until the end of next week and then it is still only a rough draft that is required. I am on easy street for a few days. Tomorrow is my daughter's birthday and then the holiday on Thursday so I'm glad to not have anything to do. I'll start my paper this weekend. The good thing about picking your own topics for papers is that it usually makes them a heckuva lot easier to write.

Hey everyone - just checking in. I'm basically caught up - if there is such a thing in grad school. I guess that means that everything that has a deadline that has passed was done. Sigh...I need to write. Start with an outline, type my notes, organize the notes into the outline....anything, something. Over break.

Anyone else working over the break? With the exception of Thursday...

You better believe it!! Although my DP decided he wanted to gut the bathroom over the four-day weekend. So I will have to find other family members to watch the little one.

gradmama-way to go on catching up. It's always a game of catchup, isn't it?

MyTWoAs- Yeah, I got it done, but not the quality I had hoped for. You see, every class day, we turn in questions from a particular chapter. The point it to READ the chapter while doing the questions. Unfortunately, I'm really bad at just skimming through to get the questions done and then having to go back and actually read later. : That is because I wait till the last minute, thinking, well, all I really have to turn in are the questions. So now I have approximately NINE chapters to read by the 4th of December when I take my finals and have A WHOLE MONTH OFF!!!!!!!!!!

What I will do with my time, I do not know, but I"m sure is will be wasted away around here. I would like to try and make some curtains and some Christmas presents but we'll see how ambitious I get.

So basically I'm hoping to get at least three or four chapters read this weekend and then the rest next week and the next weekend (when DP does not have any planned projects, I wouldn't let him!!) Have a very Happy Thanksgiving everyone! (I"m thankful that school will be over soon!)

Hi everyone! I haven't posted in this thread yet. I always think I will and then start feeling guilty and do homework instead. I am soooo bombarded with work. I finally finished my midterm for one class that was a 7 page essay. I turned it in 2 days late. : Now I have another 7 (or so) page paper due Friday on assesment in education and another paper on some childhood disorder (haven't even gotten that far yet...) due Sunday. Oh, and a really long paper on Multiple Intelligence Threory completel with a Power Point presentation due on Tuesday. And no child care until then.....Ok, starting to feel guilty again. I am just focusing on Dec. 13, because that's when I take my finals and get a break from school....I hope everyone else is doing well!

I was so excited I just had to tell someone.

The midterm I wrote last Thursday....I got a 96% on it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm really excited. Still a ton of work to do though. About 5 papers and 2 presentations plus little things. I am completely stressed out.

The project I am most excited about is my paper and sm. presentation about the affects of tv commercials on kids, which I am running a small informal survey on here for kids usage.

Well, I suppose that its maybe a good thing that you get working when you think about posting! But, I think guilt is actually a pretty negative emotion so I would suggest posting AND studying! You sound as buried as I feel. I have a 20 page paper due at the end of the quarter and a research proposal AND the weekly work for a class plus another statistics project. So....yeah. The 20 pager is the worry because the research proposal will come out of and in conjunction with that. Anyway - I can commiserate!

Congratulations! That's great. Know what you mean by completely stressed out....your project sounds great tho! I would be interested in hearing your results; what class is it for?

Hugs to everyone - I hope you all had a good Thanksgiving. We did and now I'm back to working for the next three days. At least eight hour days. That's the plan. Actually, that needs to be 10 hours of studying/day. But the kids....

Hi mamas . . . hope it's ok for me to pop in! I'm needing some motivation to make it through these last few weeks. Classes are done Dec. 10th, and I can't wait! In the meantime, though, I have a major exam to study for, braille papers that I haven't written, about 6 chapters to read, and a group project due next Sunday. We're "meeting" tomorrow (it's online, which is so not conducive to group projects!), and I'm feeling nervous about my part. 'Course, I completely forgot that I agreed to take dd1 and ds to visit their cousins all day tomorrow : so my study plans are out the window.

I did just spend about 2 hours doing some research and reading, so hopefully that'll get me moving towards the finish line.

Anyone else feel like they're just plowing on through the material without actually retaining it? I feel so guilty . . . like I'm not even caring what I learn, just that I have enough understanding to pass the test!
Hi Beth!

I'm glad you decided to pop in here. You're working on a master's degree in special education or is my memory slipping? Well I think my memory is slipping regardless of whether I'm right with this one hehe. I have moments like you mention, plowing through it and not retaining. I think for me I allow it to be OK because I'm working on a couple of 200 level courses needed for my major (I switched when I returned - studying to be an SLP) and the courses I'm taking aren't related to my major (even though they're required for it, go figure).

I did NOTHING to day...nothing. My husband let me sleep in until 9am and then my daughter and I took a 3 hour nap then I watched Ocean's Thirteen. Now I'm realizing that I was hoping to get a jump start on my next essay and am kicking myself. Oops.

Kudos to those who have done some work - I applaud your dedication, kick some my way please?
Hi SnugglyMama- I think that sometimes its the nature of the beast to plow through all the material, not really learning... Unfortunately. I really only worry about it if its stuff thats related to me! LOL But I understand the guilt aspect of it. Its one thing that I thought would go away with grad school because I"m focused on one subject, but there is so much material in so little time that my guilt at skimming is only increased. Are you on a semester or quarter system? I am transitioning from semesters to quarters and I HATE IT.

Hey Melissa - I think you should not feel guilty for taking a great day off! Um...especially as I didn't actually do a productive thing until about 5pm. Nap, frivolous (comparatively speaking anyway) reading, etc. But I'm working some tonight...you?
Yup I'm working a bit tonight as well. Kids are asleep, hubby engrossed in a video game, and I'm on the library database system looking up sources for my next essay. It's not huge but it's a start.

Itso counts.....back to reading Foucault.
MyTwoAs -- yes, I am working on my master's in spec. ed. Thanks for remembering!

Well, I did go and have fun with the kids today, and I'm glad. I got to spend time with my cousin and her baby, who is so sweet!

I was able to focus tonight when we met for our group presentation review, so it looksl like I'm good there. Tomorrow, I'm getting up early to work on homework and hopefully finish another few chapters of reading. I just have to stay on track this week, a couple hours a day, and hopefully, it'll all be done soon!

Only 2 weeks to go!!!!

I can't post much, am at the library and only 5 min left on the computer. Hope you guys are getting some stuff done this weekend. I just started studying for the first time this weekend, I feel really terrible about it, but just haven't had anyone to watch the rugrat and lots of family gatherings. But I just read one of the eight chapters I have to read, so I feel a little better. I have about one hour left here and my sister has offered to watch DS a couple of times this week to give me some study time. So that is nice.

Anyway, off to read some more! Will check in later to see how you all are doing!

I finished one paper. Only 14 left to do. Spent the last several hours trying desperately to get something, anything done. Failed miserably.

After 4 hours researching for a project, I gave that up because I just wasn't finding ANYTHING. So I moved on to the next project and just can't focus anymore. Partly because it's 90 degrees in the house (mom has circulation issues and keeps it HOT) and partly b/c I have to try to find somewhere for my family (DH,Kids, me) to move ASAP.

This was sprung on me Wed. Naturally, immediately after giving the news they instructed me to "not less this interfere with your graduation plans, you're SO CLOSE and you need to finish". While they won't *actually* kick us out, I will get "suggestions" 4-5 times a week for how I could "work *JUST A LITTLE* harder" to get us out quicker.

I really should have withdrawn from classes this term, but it would have cost us close to our entire *annual* income. I'm stuck.

I have 2 weeks to complete 15 projects. Even on my game, that's rough. Off my game, it's near to impossible.

But, I'll get it done. It's amazing what we can accomplish when we have no other options.

Off to work on paper #2.....again.
MamaChel that's so rough. I'm in a similar situation. Trying to care about schoolwork while inside freaking out about housing and bills and family. It is true that we can accomplish incredible things when we have no other choice.Good luck. I am trying to write a 14 page paper by Tuesday, complete with a fifteen minute presentation. Overwhelming, but I feel so much better after writing two papers this weekend, very quickly and carelessly and I just found out I got a 100 on one. So, that relaxed me a bit. Happy paper writing!
