Ok, so it only took me like 5 ruined covers to realize that I cannot use FOE to save my life! I really want to make some covers with a printed PUL outer by turning and topstiching them, but I know that the woven PUL prints will often pull wetness from the dipe to the outside of the cover. What can I use as the inside layer of the cover (other than the obvious soild PUL)-will suedcloth or microfleece work to keep the wetness from the outer print if it rolls out at the legs?

The best way I've found to prevent wicking as long as possible (it will happen eventually, if the dipe gets too wet) is to use a synthetic "stay-dry" inner (suedecloth or microfleece or 100% poly velour or panne) and make it roll out AND don't topstitch casings for the leg elastic. You'll have to sew the elastic down the entire length, you can't just attach the ends, but it makes less holes for the wetness to travel through. I topstitch just the "tummy panel" and "wings" of my front-snap dipes, and leave the elastic alone. It makes a really nice, soft finish

I just love the way the bound covers look! I keep going to start a cover to T&T but I can't picture what it'll look like since all the covers I have found online are bound and they are so cute.
Is the 3/4" or 5/8" FOE easier to work with than the 1"? I was trying with the 1" and I could never keep the cover layers lined up inside the FOE-there'd always be 2 or 3 spots where the FOE was basically sewed to itself and none of it was on the cover. Does using a different foot help? (I ususlly leave the walking foot on my machine, but I have the regular one and a zipper one.)
I really want to make some covers, especially since I already have the woven PUL outers, but I don't want to ruin any more with the FOE and I'm just not thrilled with the idea of T&T covers. Maybe I just need to make one and see how it turns out. And, yes, I have nothing better to obsess over, lol!
