Celebrate with me: I took my 4 kids to the store!

Okay I know it may not SEEM like a big deal, but I have 4 kids under the age of 5yo. Almost 5yo twin boys who are very high-energy, a very independent 2.5yo girl, and a 4w old -- thank god for the pouch slings my mom made me. We successfully did a big grocery shopping trip. YAY! I can do it! (I've had my doubts.)

That is amazing! I completely understand why such an outing is worthy of celebration.

why do you think it worked? Were the 5 yr olds walking next to your cart? Did they all have snacks or something?

Wow! I have a hard time with just my 2 year old and soon I'll have a newborn too. I can't imagine 4 at the same time.

congrats! I only have two (who run in opposite directions at all times! ) I can't imagine four!

Congratulations!I understand your triumph. and wish you many more smooth outings.

Congrats! I understand your excitement!

Did you do anything special to get them all to cooperate on the trip? Aren't pouches the BEST?

I remember going out for the first time when my littlest was a wee one. I had three under 5, it was FUN! Now the middle one and youngest one love to run in stores!

Wishing you many more fun outings!!!!

take care!

Thank you everyone!

Keys to my success:

1. Took them at 9am. Early in the morning is easier than the afternoon because they're well-rested and well-fed and we haven't usually had any drama by 9am. Also, grocery store was fairly empty.

2. We talked about being good listeners and staying with mommy. Although we talk about those concepts all the time; I have no idea what made them actually DO IT this time.

3. I put my 2.5yo girl in the cart and asked her to watch our food so that nobody steals it so she had a job. The boys walked close by.

4. Pouch sling! Sydney slept the entire time. It was like having 3 kids plus a pregnant belly again.

Just think how much fun you could have had if your 2.5-year-old had become convinced that someone was trying to steal your food! Yeehaw!

Good for you! (And don't you just breathe a big 'ol sigh of relief sometimes when everyone is back in "lockdown" in their carseats?)

That's awesome!! I can totally relate - when I can take my 4 to the store, I really feel like I accomplished something. You're doing great, mama!!

Wow! Congrats are definitely in order! I only have two and usually need someone to go to the store with me cause someone has to pick up all the food 1 year old DD1 throws out of the cart.

Woo Hoo! You go! Great accomplishment!!!
For real, I can't imagine taking 4 out anywhere!
Yeah for you!!

I totally understand too. I have four little ones myself. We have a method- baby in pouch, toddler in cart, DD hangs on to cart, and if all goes well DS (the oldest) pushes. Lots of Goldfish don't hurt either.

Now number five is on the way, I guess all the other ones get promoted to the next postion up...

Um yeah! That IS a BIG DEAL! I have three, 5, 3, 1yo, and just thinking about taking them to the grocery store makes me cringe. We do it, but by the time we leave I am usually exhausted.

WTG Mama!
