Anyone else had....bathroom problems? (tmi I'm sure)

OMG, I have had the worst case of constipation ever since I had Anabel almost 2 weeks ago. It's really really awful and uncomfortable. I've tried dulcolax (sp?) like they gave me in the hospital and it's not helping.

Did anyone else have this problem post-baby?

You might want to try Colace..Honestly I've found that the best cure is eating a bowl of oatmeal every morning! For some reason that really helps! I'm almost 5 weeks pp and I'm just getting back to "normal" though!!

I soooo wish I could try oatmeal. Unfortunately, if I even smell oatmeal I gag. I can't even make it for the girls.

I've found eating cereal makes me go...

I did go for several days after Sydney was born and when I finally did go, clogged the toilet :

It was almost 2 weeks for me before I could go...and I mean I didn't do anything for two weeks.

I was taking stool softeners....tried enemas...nothing...

But then again, I ended up with an emergent C/S....

Then for 1 week I was nothing but the runs several times a day...

Now I am going more often, but my system still has issues and it has been almost 4 weeks.

Colace saved my a..
drink extra water, and try not to be scared.

BTW, my niece spells her name the same way. Cute.

Try Kashi GoLean Cereal. That helps too!!

I think it was Brisen that suggested even grape juice. I didn't have any problems (thank goodness!), but thought the grape juice was a great idea (and a whole lot more appealing than prune juice!). Definitely up the fiber AND the water.

About 3 weeks pp I was so bunged up that when I pooped it hurt back there and I knew that I had fissures.

When I wiped there was some blood - sorry if its TMI

Two weeks later things are starting to get better as it seems that my digestive system is starting to go back to pre-pregnancy levels and the constipation is slowly going away.

I didn't have this problem when I had my DS.

It was bad for like the first week but now things are working right again. I have been having some fiber every night before bed though and tons of water. I also take probiotics daily.

I was fine until now - 14 days pp. I just stopped bleeding so I will ditch the iron pills and go for the fiber instead

Yes, I too had this problem! I've regulated quite a bit in the past week, and upping my fiber consumption has really helped the cause. I got these FiberOne granola bars (got them from costco) and they have a huge amount of fiber, I believe 35% the daily value for a 2000 calorie diet. Also, Metamucil wafers are not so bad- much better than the drink mix, in my opinion, and they work quite well. For me, lots of fiber works as well as Colace, which I took for about five days post-partum.
