Sperm bank that deliver without physician...

Ahhh this is becoming a new kind of puzzle !
We want to inseminate in Atlanta while we are there on vacation.
We live in Quebec.
I dont have a physician in the US obviously.. and we will only be there during Xmas so we dont have time to find one and go...

Do you know of a bank that delivers to your home (to our friend's home in this case) without a doctor sign off ?

Northwest Cryobank will, and they're quite reasonably priced compared to other banks. A couple of people have had not very positive experiences with them, though. You might search the back threads on sperm banks. They're the only ones I know of who will deliver without a doctor's sig.

Good luck!

We're using Northwest and have had no problems at all. I have heard of it taking a while to get registered and signed up, so if you're going to go down that path I would start today! Also, I wouldn't tell them that you live in Canada, that would probably cause you to be denied. They'll want addresses and employers and things like that to show that you are US residents and live in Atlanta, so I'm not sure how that would work out for you. You can register just your partner's information and leave your stuff off if you think that would make it easier.
Good luck!

Another thought is this- New England Cryobank does require a doctor or nurse's signature, but, unlike some other banks, they don't require a licence number or anything like that. If you had a friend who was a doctor or nurse, she could just sign off on it for you. Or if you wanted to be slightly less honest, I've heard of people who have just made up doctors names and signatures...

We used the sperm bank of california and I don't recall that we needed a doctor's signature 6 yrs ago. Though it's possible that we just signed it ourselves...

Yeah, you do need a sig for TSBC, and a copy of the doctor's license as well.

I don't know if this is what you're looking for, but Midwest Sperm bank only requires a doctor to fill out an initial consent form when you sign up with them, after that you can have it shipped wherever and whenever you want without further authorizations. They're very reasonably priced too!

xytex will allow home shipment after having a physician do initial paperwork. They are also in Atlanta, so there is the possibility of picking it up there and avoiding shipping costs.

Hi, I'm new here. Just wanted to give you a heads up that it's a felony to self-inseminate in GA without a physician. Ridiculous! I know because I'm in Idaho, the only other state where it is illegal. You must be inseminated by a medical doctor and it would probably be difficult to have it done outside of a medical facility. I hope you do find a way though! Good luck.

From A Legal Guide for Lesbian and Gay Couples:
In Georgia and Idaho, only a licensed physician can perform an insemination—otherwise it's considered practicing medicine without a license.

From Milbank Quarterly JSTOR article:
Georgia makes nonmedical artificial insemination a felony; in Idaho it is a misdemeanor.
