Does anyone know if the new Angelina Jolie film The Changeling is based upon Keith Donohue's The Stolen Child?

It looks like it is! I was wondering the same thing, but got pulled away by a little one before I could confirm it. I know there was a movie in the 80s, inspired by Yeats, I believe.

I hope that it is the one based on The Stolen Child, I really enjoyed that book, although I found it tragic in places.

I thought the book was OK, but honestly I was really disturbed by the child snatching theme. Which is silly because the title of the book is "The Stolen Child" -- I should have known what I was getting into!

This is why I found it so sad. I really felt for the little boy's Father and his pain when realization of the truth set in.

I also felt that the origins of the changelings should have been elaborated upon more. They were unique, but the author failed to offer this in the book, and when he did, it was limited.

it's a pretty common theme in folklore and literature-although I hadn't come across it until reading The Stolen Child myself! And yes, exceptionally disturbing, especially to a parent.

It's a remake of the 1980 movie by the same title.

The 1980 movie is not based on Stolen Child, it is actually my favorite scary movie.

They will only have a name in common. They are completely unrelated to one another.

You're right. You're right. I love the 1980 movie. I heard there was a remake coming out, but that must have just been a mistake.
