One piece polar fleece suit?

I am looking for a one piece polar fleece suit for my 14 month old to wear in her car seat in the winter. I've taken a look at MEC, Patagonia, Columbia, Molehill Mountain, Land's End, and L.L. Bean. None have the feature I want....a zipper under the legs! I like flip over hands so I don't have to put mittens on her, flip over feet are NOT required, a hood is NOT required. I want the zipper under the legs so I can just pull the whole thing over her head to put on/take off, instead of trying to stuff legs in and having her pant legs crawl up. It also makes diaper changes easier when I don't have to pull off most of the suit and her boots.

What kind of fleece suit do you have that you like?

i was on that quest last year and i can say i have never seen one like that. we got one with 2 zippers that run down the chest and each leg. it was pretty easy to get her in and out. no prob with pants.

The problem is, I can't find one with 2 zippers that will fit her. The Patagonia ones only go up to 12 months this year! What are they thinking? And one other one I found had an 18 month size, but according to the measurements, it will fit her exactly with not a speck of growing room.

We just got one from Sierra Trading post....I don't have it handy to check the zipper local, but you could look online

ebay, that is where I got DD's last year.

Another vote for ebay!

I've never seen one with the crotch zipper, but I don't have trouble getting my baby in and out of the one-zipper kind (ours go all the way to the bottom of one leg). This year I have one from Hanna Andersson (fleece), and one from Patagonia (the puffball bunting). I really like the Patagonia puffball. It is no thicker than fleece in regards to car seat safety (I am a CPS tech). It's quite lightweight. My four-year-olds have the landsend snow suits, which I also really like.

HTH!

I've been checking EBay and have only found a few that are in the U.S. and charging insane amounts to ship to Canada (US$25 to ship a fleece suit!!).

So, the Patagonia puffball is okay for the car seat? Sweet! I thought it would be too thick and I have to order it online so I had ruled it out. I like that it skips the flip over feet since I don't need those, I like that it has flip over hands which is great for going to the car, more wind resistant than fleece (we have bitter cold winds here that freeze exposed skin in seconds). I just wish they had the dual zipper on it! I could probably survive though. I like that's it easy for me to get as I can order it from MEC and have it here in a few days. If I order from the U.S. it can either be quick or take a month, and it's already cold here so I don't have that long to wait!

I ended up ordering the L.L.Bean Warm Up Snowsuit

It has dual zippers which makes it easy to get both legs in, it is nylon covered fleece in the body so it shouldn't be too thick for the car seat hopefully, and has flip over cuffs for the hands (on the infant sizes).

I would have liked the Patagonia Puff-ball, but DH wouldn't got for it seeing as it is $120 in Canada and the L.L.Bean one was half the price. But I like that the Patagonia isn't fleece inside, so legs slide in and out better than with fleece...ugh, if only I could find it on sale somewhere, but seems Patagonia doesn't do sales....grrrr.

Okay, lexbeach sold me on the Puffball!! her son just looked sooooo cute in it, and the way she describes it, it's just what I need! So, I canceled my L.L.Bean order and am ordering a Puffball in the next half hour!

ACK! Want to make sure you know that the puffball does not have hand coverings! We use mittens on a string or if Zeben is pulling off his mittens, I just pull the sleeves over his hands (since they are too long for him).

ARE YOU SERIOUS?? The web site totally says that the hands flip over!! The description says "Convertible overmitts at hands", and they even have a picture that shows them! They didn't look anything fabulous, but they would have been enough to keep DD's hands inside the arms. I just ordered it and DH let me on the condition that it met ALL my criteria....I might be in trouble! :And DD always pulls mittens off!

LOL! Well, on closer inspection, it DOES have fold-overs! The reason I hadn't noticed them is because they are only on the reversed side, which I never use (because I like the stripe). I may even start using the other side now, though, because those do look convenient. It's just a thin piece of fabric that folds over, but it will keep hands in the sleeves. So, no worries, and thanks for the info!

Ah okay, so that is where I will look when it arrives! I am sooooo glad you found them, I was worried DH was going to be fuming when it arrived without flip-overs!

Okay, apparently I am a real fool. When dw came home and I was telling her the story of me not knowing that the suit had hand coverings, and then realizing that they were only on the reverse side (which she actually prefers the look of), and after about 10 seconds of looking at the suit, dw pointed out that it actually has hand coverings on BOTH sides, lol.

Um, I don't really have any great excuse for myself. But they are kind of hard to see?

So, final word: yes, hand coverings on BOTH sides!

Sweet! In your defense, I zoomed in on the pic of the Zebrano stripe, and if there's hand covers on the striped side, they are impossible to see!

I am so excited for it to arrive! It's probably not going to be here for a week though! Hurry, it's cold here already!

I'm glad you started this thread, I've been looking for a fleece suit, too. And I was so bummed the Patagonia one only went up to 12 months, too, I LOVE the orange!

Off to look at the puffball, sounds intriguing...

Here's the link to the Puffball http://www.patagonia.com/web/us/prod...FANTS/TODDLERS

It's a little expensive (okay a LOT expensive! ) but I really like that is so compressible for the car seat, that was VERY important to me. After lexbeach told me about it, it peaked my interest so I read some more reviews and apparently it is very warm but doesn't make babies sweat. This I liked because fleece is great until you get too hot and sweat in it, and then you feel like you want to pass out!

I also liked that this was nylon on both side so it makes it really easy to slip baby in and out. With my first DD, I had a snowsuit with nylon outside and fleece inner. Even though it had a zipper right to the bottom of one leg, her pants always got stuck on the fleece going in. I always had to stick my hand up through the leg and grab her pants, while I pulled her leg in, so that they didn't bunch up on her.

And of course the nylon is wind and water resistant which is great for sleet and icy winds!
