I knew I shouldn't have gotten checked..

Today's my edd and I had an appt. I've know this doesn't mean anything and I've kind of known this babe would be late. But, I'm only 1 cm. And I'm long, nothing's thinned out at all yet.
I know I shouldn't have gotten checked. I'm not in any rush, I don't feel past ready or anything. But I can't help but feel dissapointed.

Right there with 'ya. I'm 41 weeks, 1 cm, 50% effaced, but they can't even reach up there to strip my membranes!

I'm there too - my EDD is tomorrow and got checked today, I'm STILL 2 cm and only half effaced - the same as I've been at every check since 38 weeks. I am so disappointed - all this discomfort should have been doing SOMETHING! So scared that I will never go into labor at all.

I'm not sure if this will help, but....

With DD#1 I was nearly 42 weeks, was checked and was not effaced at all and closed tight. I went into labor the next morning.

With this one, I was in the hospital, water broken for an entire day, pitocin going for 5 hours, and still was only 50-60% effaced. Baby came 4.5 hours later.

I think my point is just that it realllllly doesn't mean anything. Don't let it discourage you.

*try* not to let it get you down.. my last two I was closed tight long and thick 12 hrs before delivery for BOTH.. this one I had been ctx for a few hrs pretty ahrd and I was one and thick and high I was fully del about 2 hrs later.. my point..... it means nOTHING... be strong..

Thanks for reminding me. I get so excited when I see these babes being born everyday here. And I should just relax and enjoy my last couple days? weeks? with just the 4 of us as well.

my MW said that 2nd time mamas are very often not dilated prior to labor, and then progress fast w/ dilation once labor kicks in... which makes sense cuz i wasn't dilated last week one bit. i was soft as butter she said though, and 50% effaced... don't worry... you'll be fine.

I feel for you. I asked to be checked last week at my 39 week appointment and I was 80% effaced but closed tight. I was so disappointed, especially since 2 weeks before I was 60% effaced--that's not much progress in 2 weeks!!! It made me feel so disappointed too. I have my 40 week appointment tomorrow (my due date was today)--I can't decide whether I want to be checked or not.
