Kelly Ripa...she's so cool!

Last week I was watching Regis and Kelly. Kelly Ripa had a bad cold and kept coughing when Regis was talking so he kept teasing her about interrupting him. Finally he asks her why she doesn't just take some Sudafed or something. She said she can't because she's still nursing. Regis asks her how long she's going to keep that nursing stuff up and she says "Until he asks to see other people!" LOL

Yeah, I think it is great that she still nurses too BUT she says sooo many falasies (sp?) about breastfeeding on the show. Even what you said, no meds due to breastfeeding. She said you can't have even one glass of wine while breastfeeding. Anyway, as Iwrite this I was thinking, maybe I should email her some information, since it bothers me so much...lol

I have heard her say some VERY off things, too.

It's weird because I only see her show a few times a year, but I have heard her knock SAHMs, and brag about having all C-sections while pointing at her crotch saying "so everything's still okay down there!" as if natural birth ruins your vagina for life. Talk about vulgar and inaccurate and just plain stupid.

I just tried to feel bad for her since it sounded like she was trying to make herself feel better for not having a vaginial birth or for being away from her very young children.

Yeah..I guess it's true that she's not a good source of info. I agree that she shouldn't be saying you can't take pills or drink a glass of wine while nursing..and that c-section thing is weird although I agree she might have felt bad about it and kinda wanted to help other moms who feel bad.

As far as the cold medicine comment, though, maybe she just wants to not take a medicine if she doesn't really need it..like she wants to just get through it through natural ways. Although I honestly don't know how she sees her kids between Regis and Kelly and her new show.

Hmmm. I saw a show once where she mentioned being on hands and knees during childbirth. After that I never thought she had c-sections. I wonder how many of her coments you can take for the truth and what is just to get a laugh.

she has had 3 cesarean births, but in one interview she said she had a trial of labor with the first 2, they were not scheduled in advance. so she may very well have been on all 4s in labor.

I think they make comments like that to raise breastfeeding awareness. I'm sure she knows she can take something but not taking something brings up that she is breastfeeding.

Sudafed can really decrease your supply. I avoid it as much as possible. She probably can't do a breastfeeding lecture on every episode. I'm just glad she's still boobin' it.

Yep, I'm just glad every time I hear her talk about co-sleeping or bf at all! I've also heard her say that she is lucky because she can bring her kids with her to work. I say good for her.

Yes shes breastfeeding her 7 month old son but in nooooo way is she AP! I always here stuff around here about her being AP, and she imho, she isnt.
SHe is always away from her kids. Yes, she brings them to work with her to her 2 jobs, but she takes all kinds of trips with hubby and stuff without baby. SHe went on an overnight trip for her bday when baby was like 5 months old. SHe said she quit ALL MY Children because she wanted more time with her kids. But now she has Live and her prime time sictom. SHe said once that she puts in 3 hours at Live and then 12 hours at her other show. Now, of course she might be exaggerating but she still is working a lot, even with kids there.

But, I guess just by mentioning bfing and not saying " Im gonna stop at x and y time" is good for breastfeeding awareness. SHe should educate REgis and not let him make those offensive comments about breastfeeding. He is sooo dumb!!!!!

I knew she was bfing, but I didn't know she co-slept...infact I thought the baby was in a crib?

Not that it really matters, but I think her son is 10 or 11 months old (he was born a month or two before my youngest...I don't like the show, but it was something I watched somewhat regularly while on bedrest).

I guess I should clarify...I don't know if I would necessarily label her "ap" or not, but she does talk about bf on a pretty regular basis and her son is 10 months old now. She also has said that all her kids occasionally sleep with them, and on the show where her husband co-hosted he said something about the baby being in the bed all the time nursing and kicking him...it was sweet though.

I always end up watching it while I'm nursing for the morning nap, so that's why I'm such a font of Regis and Kelly info.

I am not a huge Kelly Ripa fan but I don't think that working excludes you from the AP club, right? I mean you can be AP and still work....
I would think that AP would be the best thing for working OR stay at home moms and that she works wouldn't exclude her from using AP type parenting. Just my opinion.

ITA!! AND she does have em with her... There at work she prolly has the choice to stop taping & get the baby, nurse the baby, wjatever. Whenever she feels like it too.... I mean she IS the boss.... :LOL

I'm in now way dissing working moms! Yes! you can be AP and work!!

The difference between most working moms and Kelly Ripa is that she doesnt HAVE TO work 2 jobs. Her one job at Regis ( which I think is perfect since it only takes 3 hours of her day at most) should be enough to help support her family: . AND SHE made the big deal about not wanting to do Regis and ALL MY Children because SHE SAID it took away from her family. But then she took on another show. I wonder why? I guess she doesnt need a reason. She only knows why and must feel confident in her choices for her and her family. I guess it isnt fair to her either since its so easy to judge her since she is in the public eye. not fair.

Im sorry I thought baby was 7 months since she was saying that she gave birth in May. my bad. ANd she did mention that the 2 older children sleep in another room and the baby is in a crib in their room. ANd I saw the show where she said baby kicked her dh when nursing, which was cute. Her ds must start the night in crib and then come into bed for some nursing and love....which is nice. But then again, I am judging and making assumptions on things that may or may not be true....

But back on the topic of bfing, it is nice that she talks about bfing her kids. I just wish she was less apologetic about it to Regis. She needs to give him a swift kick in the
