anyone try vinyl?

Ok so my dd is super sensitive to all things that go on her bum. That said in on of the links here it said you could sew a vinyl layer into the dipe instead of using PUL (which she is allergic to) I have made about 9 dipes useing vinyl. This is VERY hard to work with and if a bit more expensive. I knwo i could do fitteds without a waterproofing cover thingy. But out and about that just ins't an option for me. I have 3 other kids who do need some attention too LOL. So that said I have made these 9 dipes and have just kept making more and have yet to wash any.

Does anyone know how to wash? Can I just wash like normal dipes but then cold air dry? Or line dry? or can I go ahead and just hot dry them? Has anyone else used Vinyl?
TIA,
Anna

Maybe you could make fitteds and use Gerber vinyl pants for outings? They aren't expensive, and may be just the thing.

Have you tried wool? You could make covers/pants out of wool from thrift store sweaters.

If she's sensitive to PUL, I doubt vinyl would be any better. I'd use Nylon instead of PUL. I really like the Bummis Nylon pull-up cover if you don't want to use wool.

But Nylon is pretty icky. I'd steer clear.

HTH!

She is allergic to wool. And that is all over her body she gets a red rash.

If you're not sure what cover materials she can tolerate, you might be best off making fitteds and trying separate covers. Or, at the very least, trying individual covers to see if she tolerates them before sewing them into AIOs.

Gerber vinyl pull-on pants are super cheap. They don't hold up really well, but for a few dollars you can find out if this is something she can wear comfortably. If not, pass them along to somebody else. Nylon is a lot nicer and more breathable, plus it holds up better with lots of use. I started out my first baby with vinyl covers, then moved onto nylon when it was time to buy the next size- mostly for the durability factor.

I have a few Gerber pull-on pants for situations when I have to change diapers alot and don't want to get my other covers all nasty (like when DS licks the bubble wand instead of blowing bubbles with it and the soap gives him diarrhea : ) They work pretty well, but they're hot and crackly...I don't think *I'd* want to wear them all the time or for an extended period.

Is your daughter allergic to polyester fleece? If not, you can use fleece much like wool (it is also a dispersion barrier) and it can be machine washed
