Revolutionary idea....

I was reading through some threads about being in early labor and I got to thinking...how great would it be to have a little "kit" made of relaxing things for early labor? Maybe a good book or little quiet project to do, lightly scented candle, snuggle blanket, yummy snack treats and a gatorade or two all packed up nice I was thinking it might be a nice way to keep me relaxed and not over-thinking the process (I plan to call the midwives as late as possible) I think it might help me knowing I have "something" to do for that early labor rather than being lost and unsure what to do!! So what do you think? What would be in your early labor survival kit?

Yeah special stuff just for you to help you relax! Maybe a photo album of favorite pictures? Or even a little bottle of wine to help you relax

Baking cakes with older kids seems to be popular. Standing, moving, the rotation of the hips as you cream the butter and sugar....but then, so does surfing MDC. It's shocking how many posters spend half an hour or more on MDC on the day of baby's birth
DD was induced with Johnny Depp and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

We went shopping last time in early labor . . . I'd love to do that again. It was fun and kept me happily upright and walking.

Hopefully I'll go into labor at a convenient hour for shopping again. I think I'll just put some money in my early labor kit.

I tend to go into labor after everyone is sleeping and it was wonderful when I was in labor with Coren to take out the birth beads from my ddc and my MotherBlessing and the notes/blessings my friends wrote to go with them and reading through them and really looking at each bead ... and then moving on to untying some of the rope my friends knotted as part of my MotherBlessing ceremony (for the particular purpose of giving me something to "work though" during early labor).

For some reason this time around I'm feeling the need to get a puzzle to start when I go into labor - and then leave it for the midwives and all attending the birth to work on while I labor.

Could you PM me with an explanation of what the purpose of birth beads and a Motherblessing are? I've heard about people having them, but never knew what they were Thx!

Amanda-I love this idea! I think there are websites where you can get a favorite photo made into a puzzle too!

Oooh - that's a great idea, Jen! I may have to have a puzzle made of the kids for the kids to work on! They'd get a charge out of that!
