Sc0ut A1exandra Lastname

We live in po-dunk-ville USA, where most names around here are very common, so we get lots of fun reactions when people ask what our baby girl's name is.

I think I am the only person in the world that wasn't required to read To Kill a Mockingbird in school, so I had no idea that Scout is the main character in that book. I saw the name on some baby name web sites when I was pregnant and it immediately jumped out at me as a really cool girl name. I pitched the name to DH and he liked it too, so we put it on our short list. Then, I read that it is also the name of one of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore's daughters and I was sort of disappointed, because I didn't want anyone to think that we named our child after a celebrity couple's child purposefully. I still loved it and put it in the back of my mind.

Then, I flew to my hometown a couple months before my due date for a baby shower and was bored in the airport during a layover and hadn't brought any reading material. I bought To Kill a Mockingbird at one of the gift shops in the airport just because I have a hard time spending money, and I figured I might as well buy something that I knew was considered a classic so it wouldn't be a waste. I know, I'm a weirdo.

Anyway, I loved Scout's character in the book so that just solidified my fondness for the name.

I just liked the way A1exandra sounds with Sc0ut (and is just by coincidence the name of another character in To Kill a Mockingbird ) It is also my niece's middle name, and I thought it would be nice for them to have that in common.

Addison Elizabeth last name.

Yes we watch Gray's Anatomy and no she's not named for Kate Walsh's character. It's actually one of the few names that dh and I found in both our lineages that was unusual and we both liked. We call her Addie. Elizabeth is also a common name in both our lineages. I wanted Eliza but our last name does not sound good with a name that ends in a vowel.

I've recently fallen in love with the name Ainsley. I'd call her Leelu for short after the 5th Element.

I've seen a lot of names we considered. Don't know about all of you but it took us months of reviewing geneologies and baby books to find one we could both agree on.

Bella Linda. Who's afraid of a little lyrical-ness? Bella because I loved it, and Linda for my mother. So her name is like beautiful beautiful. Her last name could be interpreted as "life," so her name is... "beautiful, beautiful life!" So hopefully she will have one

I *love* Owen, btw. I'm coveting that name lately, although I suspect my next baby will be another girl. I'm not pregnant yet so how I can suspect, I dunno, but I do! Also love Eliza! Lots of wonderful names in this thread!!!! Looove the Tolkien names... *sigh*... Evenstar!

Mine are Poppy Beatrix and Olive (no middle name yet- any suggestions?!). Olive is due in February, and it's a hoot to call her baby Olive. I love it when a name feels right.

Milo Jacob
I really liked the names Jonah and Milo during pregnancy, but we did not decide anything for sure, then as soon as I saw him I thought "it's Milo!" The middle name was a quick decision so we could get the birth certificate paperwork done, but I had liked the name before and thought is sounded good with the first name.

I have Sadie Lynn

... but she was supposed to be Maia Elizabeth. DH and I had agreed not to share the name until she was born, but he leaked it, and I got upset and was too stubborn to use it after all. I like the name Sadie, but it still doesn't feel quite right

I have Cecilia Anne and Carl William.

Name threads are fun! If I named my children without dh Cecilia would be Dylan- I loooove that name for a girl.
