Which tub was used on "Private Practice" last night?

Does anyone know which birthing tub was used on the TV show "Private Practice" last night - the one the cop's wife gave birth in? It looked awesome and I've been having trouble deciding which birthing tub I wanted! It was inflatable, blue, had handles on the inside, looked fairly deep and both the doc and the mom fit inside it at the same time (and there was still some room) hat's about all I could see on TV. If anyone recognized it, I would love to know which one it was!

A lot of those Doctor/Hospital TV shows drive me crazy, but it was nice to see waterbirth depicted as "normal" on television.

Namaste.

Yup, it was.

It was a La Bassine. I have one and waterbirth international sent out a press release to that effect.

It is a little larger than the birth pool in box Eco and and not as big or deep as the regular BPIB.

Thanks ladies! Now I just have to hunt one down - hopefully I can rent one in my area.

I don't know if you'll find one to rent, but they are only $98 to buy (less probably if you find one used.) More pricey than the inflatable fishy pools, but not so much as some of the others!

They're only $100. I don't think you can rent them. I used one last time . . . it was too shallow (though much deeper than a fishy pool) and the sides weren't supportive enough. This time I'm going with the BPIAP (birth pool in a box, $150).

If I was shorter (I'm 5'8") or hadn't wanted to lean so much on the walls of the pool, it probably would have been great.

It's the tub my DD was born in. You'll love it.

While you can buy a La Bassine for about $95 (plus shipping), the accessories (hoses, pumps, etc.) will cost you some money, too. So factor that in as well. I rent out a La Bassine for about $100 but I have nearly $200 invested in it, so it saves people money to rent, plus the convenience factor of not having to run around town or trying to find out what the heck an "RV hose" is.

If you are in the US, I believe that YourWaterBirth.com is the only US distributor of the La Bassine. Debra, who runs the site, is the one who sold a tub to "Private Practice" for the show.

It's a great tub, it is deep but because it is oval, does not require as much water to fill, and has two handles which you probably saw on the show. The translucent walls make it easy for the midwife to see what is going on in the water, and plus it looks great in the photos.
