Me and the circus kid, update...

Hi, Mamas. I'm still here and doing better. Baby has been flipping and flipping and flipping. We tried to get in for an EV, but the doc is on vacation. We talked about driving down to TN, and then baby flipped vertex again. So, now we're doing something I never thought I would do...desperately trying to induce labor and get him OUT. I can't stay on this rollercoaster anymore. I promised him that we will sign him up for circus school ASAP, as long as he just stays head down and COMES OUT.

Mws needed to do a vaginal exam, yesterday, to confirm that he was head down...so they also (with my consent, of course) swept my membranes and tugged on my bag of waters a bit. Ironically, I was taking bioflavaniods to keep my membranes from rupturing prematurely...so, now I have a bag of steel... She pulled the bulging forebag all the way out of my cervix and nothing happened!

Dh and I are having lots of sex, I'm using the breastpump, drinking rrl, taking goldenseal, etc. My massage therapist worked on some shiatsu points for me today.

I just lost a ton of mucus an hour ago...but nothing else yet. I'm really hungry and thirsty (on my second dinner already now) so I'm taking that as a good sign that my body is gearing up for hard work.

Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers. I don't want to do anything to force baby out before he's ready...but, my body is really on the brink and I was to encourage whatever I possibly can...

I've been thinking of you... good to see your post. My fingers are crossed for you. Sex and spicy Thai food got things moving for us. Hope you are holding your little circus star soon -- can't wait to hear what his name will be!

(((((HUGS))))) Sending you love and good birthing vibs. You have had such a hard time and that needs to change. It will be a different hard. I agree about the food thing, when real labor finally hit me, I had been starving right before that! Good luck hun!

We've got to get the kids to bed so we can get down to business! I just dragged the entire family on a brisk walk... Nothing yet. Back to the breast pump...

Thanks for all of the labor vibes!

Hope baby stays vertex! I think you probably know all this stuff, but just in case, I'll list the stuff my acupuncturist/cranial sacral therapist/chiropracter suggested to keep baby vertex until birth:

1. Avoid sitting in a car w/bucket seats - almost impossible! We put a pillow on the seat to lift my rear end higher than my knees, and we limit how much time I spend in the truck.
2. Get into the car rear end first.

3. Always sit with knees lower than pelvis (adios, my sofa...hello, exercise ball and swedish chair I got from Freecycle!)

4. Yoga: do cat, not cow (arch back, don't sway back)

5. Make sure pelvis is aligned and ligaments loose (cranial-sacral great for this)

6. This in addition to any other good stuff from sites like spinning babies. I couldn't do a bunch of stuff suggested b/c I can't put pressure on my hands, but #s 1 - 5 were important to keeping my baby vertex once he got turned (at about 38 weeks.)

best,

rebekah

Come on baby!!! Piper had a really short cord, which was my gut instinct 2 months back when she was flopping around a lot. She was barely able to lay on my belly with the cord pulled taut on my bottom. I hope your LO comes out soon while s/he is head down. Good luck!
