wilderness first aid

I'm Christmas shopping for my dh on my mom's behalf - she would like a list of books she could get for him. He would really like to expand on his dogsledding/outdoor activities and become a wilderness guide at some point. First aid is his achillies heal - he's interested, but also can *not* handle anything to do with blood. So, I'm looking for suggestions of wilderness first aid books. Something with a northern focus would be most applicable. An added bonus would be something that goes light on the gory photos. He has to take a course, but I think I book he could look over beforehand would help with the jitters. Poor guy.

On a related note, any suggestions for dogsledding fiction/non fiction would also be appreciated. He read "My Lead Dog is a Lesbian" last year, and got a complete kick out of it. I read it too, and admit it was hilarious. Anything in a similar vein?

Thanks.

Woot! A reply!!
Not a popular subject, hey?

That Outward Bound book was one of the ones I was looking at, so thanks for the recommendation.

Thanks.
