when to introduce nut milks/butters?

DS is 17 mos old and has an egg allergy (hives), but seems to do ok with other big allergens (dairy, soy, wheat), but we haven't started him on nuts yet. He has had tahini and sesame seed products and now I would like to introduce almond milk (like in a smoothie) or almond/cashew butter (I see all these wonderful recipes for things like rice krispy bars with almond butter!), but am not sure.

At what age did you/will you introduce nut milks and or nut butters to your little ones? Are there certain nuts that are less allergenic than others? I know peanuts are the MOST allergenic, right?

I just would not do it at that age, period. If I knew my child already had some allergies like eggs, I'd want an epipen in case of accidental contact with other allergens.

I have a child who I discovered at 15 months was anaphylactic to several foods, including eggs, nuts, peanuts. Personally, I'd not take the risk until at least 3 years, and then I'd only feed nuts or peanuts outside ER or in the allergist's office.

Why the rush to eat nuts when there are a million other less risky foods? Honestly, we cut all nut products from our family's diet due to my ds's allergies, and it's no big hardship. We discovered other foods and rarely feel that we miss out. In your case, I'd wait it out a while longer and just adapt recipes or cook something else.

Yes! Very helpful. We do have 2 epipens just in case. I suppose there's no rush, just me being excited about offering new things.

We're waiting until our dc is 4 before introducing nuts. She's allergic to many things (none are anaphylactic), but I just don't want to risk developing a new allergy, especially since nuts are the least likely to be outgrown.

In a child w/ known allergies or a predisposition to allergies like mine, 3 is the earliest.

There are other 'butters' that taste good and are nut free. Try sunflower seed butter (they have it at Trader Joe's and Whole foods) also there is Pea butter, I have not tried it so I cannot attest to its taste.
