less obnoxious pool stuff

hi all!
has anyone had success in using some of the 'non-chlorine' alternatives for pools? i figure since the epa regulates chlorine gas as a hazardous substance, i don't really want it around my family!

we have used baqua spa for our spa (a similar product is available for pools) I liked some things about it, but I couldn't take the off gassing when the jets were on (I'm really sensitive to that stuff). Right now, we have gone back to chlorine, but we only use it to shock and are actually chemicle free more of the time. Seriously considering going to an ozonator.
