When do you plan on seeing your midwife?

I haven't decided yet. I will defenitely wait until at least 8 weeks, but I am not sure how long I want to wait. It seems silly to see her so early, but part of me figures I might as well since the cost will be the same anyway, no matter how long I wait to start the prenatals.

As much as I'd love to experience a midwife birth, I am very happy with my doctor and how my last 2 births went with him. I just emailed his office and said I got a positive test today and he will let me know when I should see him for a first visit. I have been on prenatals since we started ttc (we have a high chance of the clefting birth defect so I wanted my folic acid to be good).

If I decide to see a midwife and not do a UP, I won't be seeing her until at least 12 weeks. I'll be out of the country until then :

I will probably see mine around 14-16 weeks. There isn't much we can do before that!

I called my OB this morning (LOVE her!), and they told me she was all booked, so for my first visit I'd have to see her nurse (which is okay, since I LOVE her too) and for the second visit, I'd see the doc. The scheduled me an appointment for tomorrow! I thought that was odd, because I'm only 4 1/2 weeks. With my previous pregnancies, I've gone in at about 10 weeks for the first visit. Seriously, what are they going to do - weigh me and to a urine test? But my doctor's office is a flat fee for prenatals/delivery, so I might as well go. It's fun to sit in the waiting room with all the other pregnant ladies

Last time I remember being HORRIFIED to find that my midwives didn't schedule the first prenatal visit until 9-13 weeks. I had so many questions and fears! I scheduled for the *very* first day of the 9th week.

This time, I'm planning to wait until 12-13 weeks. I figure we might as well wait until there's a better chance of hearing the heartbeat.

I called my midwife about 2 seconds after I told dh, but we're friends outside of me having babies lol. I'm scheduled to see them for a real appointment 1/4.

I talked to my midwife today. and veryoften while we were TTC. LOL
I am starting care, not with my midwife this week. since i have needs for meds to sustain a pregnancy, and i will likely start with my MW when i am about 14 weeks or so...

Well I made an appointment with my midwife and we are set for Jan. 8th. I think I will be a little over 10 weeks then.

My first appt is on December 13th. I will be just about 6.5 weeks along.

I think it will be just a "checking THEM out" kind of appt because already I am feeling a little strange about them so I want to see what kinda vibes I get and maybe I ll have to look for another midwife.

My appointment is set for Dec 5 to interview my Hospital MW. My husband is still on the fence about a homebirth so I have agreed to dual care. The MW I am seeing come highly recommended in the NFL community in this area, she even had a homebirth herself. I have heard she is very tolerant of a dual care type of situation or just going to her until you make your final decision either way so I hope it goes well next Wednesday.

Oh my god, this is really funny. You're seeing Mary Mumford Haley, right? I also have an appointment to interview her that day!

Ha! Small, small world...

I emailed my midwife this morning after I POAS. She is going to call in a script for Progesterone (I have PCOS and low progesterone and have needed it with both prior pregnancies) but hasn't written back as to when I am supposed to see her.

I just made my first appointment. I'll be going in on January 10th, when I'm just short of 11 weeks.

Oh gosh I hope that I don't have to wait till 8 or 9 weeks...I want to see the midwife as soon as possible...partially cause I have never done this before! And I need to meet and pick a midwife...do you think they would see me, even just for a consultation, in the next month?

Yup a lot of midwifes will have a consultation with you as soon as you're looking for one. I met with mine about a week after I POAS with Henry because there's a few in my area and I was NOT delivering in a hospital so I had to find a midwife NOW lol. I went for a 'real' appointment with them around 8 weeks iirc.

With my history, I was told to "call as soon as you see two lines". But that was before the many months of fertility treatments with my RE. I'll ask my RE about when I should switch over care to my midwife.

Well, actually I just found out my midwife is moving to New Mexico in January. : I've never met the other MW in the office. I should call now.

I will see my MW around 8 weeks. Generally, here in Ontario, they don't see you before then. I can't wait!

I am in the same boat as my last pregnancy, no registered midwives to hire...
