can carpets effectively be cleaned in a "least offensive to health" way or do I really have to figure out how to rip them out and get wood floors?
We moved in with my mother (who has not cared about these sorts of things) and the carpets are very light colored. They get so soiled so fast, but then she whips out her cleaner and goes to town with her chemicals. My poor, sweet, well-intentioned mother makes NO connections between her allergies and sinus troubles and her repeated respiratory infections and such cleaning practices.
Well, I want a clean ("clean looking"
) house, but not at the expense of our lungs.
I am not as (yet) extremist as I am sure many mindful mamas on here are. I was just wondering if there is anything that might be less offensive than the chemicals she is using now, while we research options for floors, get estimates, stuff like that.
