A thought came to me out of nowhere...
Have you heard about Kangaroo Care? From what I've read nicu babies heal better and faster when they have skin to skin contact for chunks of time. Here's a link http://www.kangaroomothercare.com/index.htm, there are lots of them and there's even a clothing line!
Here's hoping Joseph is happy and home soon

Thanks everyone, just wanted to let you know we had a good day yesterday. Joseph is off the ventilator and almost all meds, and he can suck a pacifier - he's doing awesome!

that's great, blue! we had some very dark NICU days during ds' 5 month hospital stay, and i can say from experience that sometimes, NOTHING of what the neonatologists predict comes true.

i hope you have many more encouraging days ahead of you.

I've been following your story, and I'm so happy to hear Joseph is doing better! I was a NICU mom, too, so I know how every small achievement is a triumph.
