i want to try making a few of my own inserts. i found some micro towels on sale the other day but was trying to figure out what the general dimensions for an insert that would fit the med/lg either fb or hh. i only have small sized inserts right now so i didnt want to sew or cut too small or big since i dont have anything to use as a pattern.

thanks in advance

If they're they're the auto or cleaning style towels, the easiest thing is just to tri-fold them before stuffing. Or, you can tri fold them, then sew one end together so they stay folded in the dipe with less shifting but come open in the wash. Check out the sticky at the top for tutorials-there's one about sewing a "fortune cookie" soaker that's for adding a layer of flannel to the towel. Finally, the size large microfiber insert I received with a large pocket dipe measures 14"x5.5" and it's 3 layers. I haven't used it yet so I don't know if it's a good size.

thanks - these werent specifically for cars i think they were more for kitchen use and they are quite large. i was thinking if i made them in a more contoured shape i might be able to quadruple the cloth....but i wasnt sure. it was mostly the length. i didnt want them to stick out of the diaper and i figured it might be hard to estimate til it was actually in use.
