You're turn!

What # pregnancy is this for you? How has it been different or similar to others, if any? Or if it your first, how has it compared to your expectations? How have you been feeling so far?

Yay! My turn!

This is easy-- it's my first pregnancy, so it has not been at all different from any other ones!
As far as expectations... I'm gaining a lot less weight than I thought I would, actually. I was a pretty chunky teenager before dwindling down to being underweight when I got married, and I think I thought that the weight would just pile right back on. I at LEAST thought that I would look very pregnant right now, but I still have people at work saying they had no idea. Huh.

In general, I think things are going pretty well (except for having carcinoma in situ on my cervix; that's not ideal). I was so tired that I literally couldn't get out of bed some days during the first trimester, but it's been quite nice lately. All my "pregnancy woes" have turned out to have quick fixes. Back hurts in the morning? Put a pillow between my legs? Horrible heartburn? Buy a pack of Tums! Nothing really to complain about...

In fact, the really interesting thing is how *happy* I've been throughout the pregnancy. I'm a bit neurotic normally, and moody, and, well, insane, but I've just been calm and optimistic the whole time this creature's been inside me. I don't know if it's hormones, or if it's a (sub)conscious decision not to pour stress hormones on the baby, but I'm just been feeling like all is right with the world.

Tell us about your diaper stash!

Do you have a name picked out for your little girl?

What do you do?

What did you think when you first started feeling your baby moving? How many weeks along were you?

What are your birth plans?

> Tell us about your diaper stash!

Ooooohh.... my diaper stash..... my terrible, terrible addiction...
I started months ago, because of this argument: I knew I wanted to cloth diaper, but I was afraid of the expense of buying a whole stash... so I thought I would buy one or two diapers a month until the baby came. But... when I saw how cute one or two diapers was... I began stalking TP and DS multiple times a day-- it's what got me out of bed some mornings!!! I now have something like 50 newborn size fitteds! I don't know how it would even be possible for them all to be used, especially since there's a history of big babies in my family. : But I love them so! I spread them out on the floor to admire. I make all visitors to the house admire. People don't seem to share my infatuation, but I make them admire anyway!

>Do you have a name picked out for your little girl?

I do. We actually picked it out about 2 years ago; my boys name was chosen 10 years ago, and it was just a matter of seeing which one this baby was. However, I do not like telling people the name, as I am afraid of it becoming too popular... I'm not sure why I think it'll make a difference, but I've actually noticed a couple of people on MDC who have chosen the same name and have the same fear. It is very unfortunate that a famous person recently stole the name from us. :

>What do you do?

Eh. That's the only other thing I don't like to talk about. Suffice it to say that it's something I had to go to grad school for, but that neither at the time of choosing the profession, nor now 6 years later, do I consider it fulfilling or a calling. I'd like to just be in school forever, I think.

> What did you think when you first started feeling your baby moving? How many weeks along were you?

I started waiting for movements at 16 weeks. I'm not really sure when the first *actual* movements began, as opposed to the *imagined* movements that were probably stomach rumblings. But even with the imagined ones, I was just insanely proud. I like to say that she is a very good baby. : Does everything a 6-month old womb-dweller is supposed to, and does it very considerate-ly.

>What are your birth plans?

Um, pending? I have a wonderful midwife whom I love. Unfortunately, the hospital where she had privileges just closed, so it's a bit up in the air where I will deliver. A few months ago I would have said that I was going to have a hospital water birth. Now I'm *hoping* to have a hospital water birth; it depends on where she/I end up, and what they allow... The best case scenerio hospital has really good showers, and they're hoping they can convince them to allow tubs. When I asked about the "worst case scenerio" hospital, the one they are using as a fallback, I was told, "well, you'll get to have your baby..."
