How do you clean your shower curtains?

Okay, I am tired of constantly throwing out shower curtains...how do you clean them properly?

They can go in the washer. I usually throw it in with a load of towels so the towels can help scrub it. Works well enough!

That's exactly what I do. Works very well. My problem is that I lose motivation before I get around to getting the laundry finished, so now I have two shower curtains. The minute I take one down, the clean one goes up.

When I had a shower curtain (now we have a door) I only bought the laminated ones (at JCPenny) as vinyl is toxic. I washed them with the towels with a tiny bit of bleach to kill the pink algae stuff.

Mine get a little too ripped up putting them in the washer, so I alternate that with a good bleach wipedown - both sides, mostly at the bottom where that pink mold grows blech.

I throw my vinyl(plastic? not sure) shower curtain liners in the washing machine with detergent and warm water every month or two. No need for bleach (so toxic) and they come out perfectly. Obviously, you let them drip dry in the shower, you don't put them in the dryer.

Our shower curtain is clear, so I always know when it needs washed. I put it in the machine on gentle cycle with my towels. It always comes out clean.

I wash mine in the washing machine on cold, then hang back up when they come out of the machine. They "hang dry" in their usual location.

How do you dry the shower curtain then if you can't hang it up on the shower when it's fresh from the washing machine?

you all are talking about the plastic liner curtains right?

ETA: yEA!! THEY ARE CLEAN!

Ours are cloth, not vinyl. They go through the wash while the tub's getting cleaned. They get replaced entirely when they get really ratty (about every three years).

Good! Glad they got clean. I was talking about both. I have a plastic liner curtain and a decorate outer curtain. Both get the same treatment.

does anyone have issues with the print rubbing off? Mine do when I put them in the washer.

I like to get clear with prints as we're in an apartment with no light in the shower.
