My dad is learning something!

I was explaining vax stuff to my dad last night (A VERY hard sell) and he first wanted to know if the rise in autism was because of a rise in diagnosis....I dont know! I dont belive it is, but I dont have any evidence of that either...Its a possibility, right? How do I present an argument to him? (Like, they are just noticing autism more now than 15 years ago??)

Also, he doesnt understand why the animal stuff in the vaxxes is actually bad. I dont know that either! Why is it bad to inject serum into your body? (Seriously, it sounds discusting....but why is it actually dangerous...chicken parts and fetal tissue, etc.) All I can find are websites noting "OMG It has fetal tissue!" but never the "why that is bad" part.

You all are so knowlegable, I just know you are going to have an answer for me. :

hmm good questions. I'm not an expert but I think the problem with animal tissues is they can be infected with other diseases. Do a search on SV40 and the polio vaccine. There have been other cases of vaccination contamination.

Plus, if you are religious....it is just wrong to put animal cells in your body.

about the autism. I'm not sure if they are just noticing it more. I have never met a kid with autism so I'm not even sure what the symptoms are but from what I see on movies, tv, etc (which is a bad source : lol) they don't make eye contact, and seem less sociable. It seems like doctors would notice that. But again, I am not an expert and have not read much about autism.

Some of the animal materials are "collected" in pretty brutal ways. There are fetal cells connected from unborn calves and the description of what is involved made me feel pretty sick...and I eat meat! Plus they do seem to come with contamination issues as was already mentioned.

If the rise is attributed to a rise in diagnosis in children, then wouldn't the same hold true for adults? I could be wrong, but I don't think there is an autism epidemic among adults.

This is highly unlikely because it is assumed by doctors that if someone had autism they would have already been diagnosed in childhood. Just like it is assumed that someone with ADD would have been diagnosed as a child (typically speaking, I personally was diagnosed with ADD as an adult, but one has to demonstrate that they had the symptoms in childhood in order to get this diagnoses as an adult). I definitely think that part of the rise in Autism is a greater ability to diagnose it. There are a lot of preschools that have yearly evaluations by specialists on all children so that they can help them get resources and early intervention. This increases the likelyhood that a child is diagnosed with an Autism spectrum
disorder. Also there has been a broadening of the definition of Autism. That's why there is now the term "Autism Spectrum Disorder." Thirty to forty years ago only real severe cases were diagnosed, now there are milder cases being diagnosed as well. Plus a greater awareness of the disorder also means that parents are more likely to take there children in to be evaluated. It's like fishing with nets. The more nets you have down in the water the more fish you'll catch, and right now we have more nets out there than in the past.

However I also believe the stories people tell about there child regressing immediately after being vaxed. I personally think there are many factors contributing to Autism and vaxing is probably one of them. Frankly I think vaxes are dangerous for a lot of reasons other than Autism.
