TMI:Is there a reason for 'down there' pressure, besides baby dropping?

I know this may be TMI, but here goes..
I am having the weirdest feeling in my pubic-mound area. It feels full and swollen, like something is trapping the blood in. But in my last cervical check, midwife said the baby is still at -5 station ( bit of background : at 38 weeks she was dropped to -2, then at 39 she had moved BACKWARDS up to -5 again, and has been at -5 since). She's stumped because she says usually pressure down there is caused by the baby's head pressing on the pelvic organs, but in this case the baby's head is still floating. However, my pubic area hurts! Anyone know of any reason for it hurting like that, other than pressure from the baby's head? Its really bugging me!

Sorry you're uncomfortable, Mama!

Could it be another part of baby's body pressing on your pubic bone?

Hmm, I can't think of anything else. Maybe baby has dropped since the last check? What you're describing is exactly how I've felt since baby engaged....

Good luck, and sorry you're so uncomfortable! That stinks!

i get this...could be SPD, could be baby is hitting a nerve, could be sciatica issues...its weird cuz some days i hurt soooo bad i can barely move and it also effects my back pelvis bone area, into my butt even (the pelvic bone there) and some days i feel great. i don't know if its baby's head pressing onto something at some angle or what. that is what most people/MW's have said...all i know is it hurts when it happens. are you getting a burning sensation too? i get one in my bikini area on the left side...and inside of my left leg. it is so hard to move to get up out of bed especially as i have to move real slowly to avoid too much pain w/ that one leg. man oh man. hang in there mama........... as for down there pressure, well, we've got some heavy poundage going on right there... babies w/ heads down there and that puts a LOT of pressure on our whole pelvis/pubic bone area...so that alone is enough if you ask me. my little guy has been really deep and low for a while now...2 weeks ago he was at -1 station and i'm curious if he's lower now...who knows. maybe i'll get checked again tomorrow....i think i might.

hugs!

This has been me for the past 2 MONTHS! Just wait until the baby does drop, the pressure gets even worse! Mine gets worse when I lay down for some reason - anyone else? Since the baby dropped last week, I've actually had to put counter pressure just to get some relief. So among all the other almost humiliating things that I'm feeling right now (like being a stinky blob) I get to fall asleep holding my vagina!
