Postpartum weight loss

At day 5 postpartum I was down 30 pounds! I currently weigh 24 pounds less than the day that I found out I was pregnant.

I haven't lost anything else in the last 2 days.

Wow! That is amazing!! My pattern is to be about 5 pounds above my pre-PG weight by a few weeks postpartum. I am happy with that. Unfortunately after that it all sticks around until weaning... and sometimes those 5 pounds start inviting friends to move in... :

wait. say that again? are you saying that you gained 30 lbs over the course of your pregnancy, and 5 days after giving birth, you had already lost 24 of those lbs? are you sure? that just seems awfully speedy, unless your baby was 15 lbs... the placenta and amniotic sack and extra blood/fluid are only supposed to total about 3-4 lbs, which means that you lost ~15 lbs of fat in 5 days?

i would be a little concerned that it was too much too fast, but if you're feeling healthy/energetic and you're not hungry, kudos to you!

I gained 45 pounds and came home from the hospital 22 pounds lighter. Strange but true! I figure that's baby, placenta, amniotic fluid, blood, and lots of water, but no fat!

I didn't weigh myself until almost 2 weeks pp and I've lost 25 lbs now. I'm too busy taking care of midgets to bother wieghing myself. Haha. The only reason I did was because my older boys like to weigh themselves and I got suckered into getting on the scale too.

I am SO glad someone posted about this!

I started out very overweight at 305lbs and 5'10 (this is me) so I knew I didn't want to have much left over to lose.

I hopped on the scale this morning at 4 days post partum to find my 25lbs weight gain is almost completely gone! I believe it would be gone if these breasts weren't so swollen with milk!!

I am SO excited! Except for a probably forever stretched out tummy, my pregnancy weight is gone. I wonder if in two weeks I will be even lower than my pre-preg weight.

Still preggo here, feeling bigger than ever, and I'm totally jealous! I just want to be able to bend at the waist again!

I have no idea what to expect post-partum and I have no idea what I gained, so I won't know how much I've lost but I hope I can wear my regular clothes again soon. I miss them!

But dang, that's some fast weight loss! As long as it's natural and you're not forcing it, though, it's probably fine...

Well I gained 60 lbs and that will probably take me about 4 months to lose it all. So far, I'm down about 25 lbs, maybe a bit less, and I'm eating more now than I did when preggo - gotta love tandem nursing!

No dieting! Not at less than a week PP. Just healthy eating and most can expect 25 pounds off within a week or two. It's totally normal without trying.

I'm so jealous of you all. I gained 55lbs with ds1 and 50lbs with ds2, and both
times it took 3 years to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight.
I've gained 50lbs this time around too, so I'm not getting my hopes up of fitting into my jeans anytime soon.

i hope this is true for me, too. i started this pregnancy already overweight, and have gained ~25 lbs, which i just assumed would take me around 3 months to lose. it's a relief to hear that i might be able to fit into some of my favorite clothes sooner than that, since i have about 6 outfits right now that i'm rotating and i'm pretty damn sick of all of them!

Pre-pregnancy I was 125 lbs.
At birth I was 177 lbs.
Today, at 2 days pp, I weigh 155 lbs.

We'll get there eventually. I just want to lose this flabby stretchy pudge belly!

Post partum is the only time in my life that I LIKE getting on the scales!

I gained 85 pounds during this pregnancy and am down 25 at one week post partum. I will be very surprised if I don't have to struggle to lose about 40 of the pounds I gained, but I'm eating less than I did when pregnant (which was way too much) and making better choices, so hopefully it will be a few weeks before I really feel the need to start saying no thanks to treats. I'm doing MUCH better now at just eating when hungry. Not sure if it's hormonal or the fact that I'm not working.

I think I'm going to like getting on the scales for about 2 wks then not so much LOL... I'm pretty sure alot of the 40lbs I gained was from my candy bar cravings and not from baby LOL

During the first 2 months of pregnancy I lost 13 pounds.
4 days before giving birth I only weighed 7 pounds more than I did at conception.
5 days postpartum I weighed 30 pounds less than I did at birth and 24 pounds less than I did at conception.

The baby was 9 pounds. I have been eating but still have my general food aversion that I had while pregnant. I ate really well the night the baby was born and the day after but now I am just blah about food.

I'm usually 150 lbs but gained 50 with the pg. With ds1 I gained the same and I lost 30 lbs the day he was born. After reading this thread, I sent dh down to the basement to dig out our scale!!

Um, yeah, I'm sure I have plenty of cheeseburger weight.

Before I was preggo? Not so much with the cheeseburgers. So it's KIND OF the baby's fault...

(The french fries were always my idea)

You had to temp me on the dang scale huh! :

So I am down 20lbs and thats 10 less then where I started. But then I had lost 25lbs in the begining with how sick I was only to gain that back and then some.

I know I should be out walking everyday but no stroller for both kids and I am honestly not that into walking without another adult. Any home work out ideas for me?

I am gonna have to go get my scale out...lol. Pregnancy #1 I was 20 years old, not in shape at all, started at 144, capped at 175, delivered at 171, and was exactly 144 at 6 weeks post baby. This time, I am 29, have been an exercise fanatic for a few years now, was 138 at start, delivered around 171, and have no idea now. I do know that not a single pair of my jeans are even close to fitting on my hips. It's funny, my tummy flattened right out, but my ass is exponentially larger.

I'm guessing I will end up with about 10-15lb of actual bodyfat weight to lose.

Going to get scale this morning.
