? about diaper kits - worth it?

There is a diaper cover kit at www.strawberriesandsunshine.com that looks all inclusive. I've never made a cover before so I'm wondering do I need all of that stuff? Or can I just buy a few of those things to make a cover. I want to make the deluxe diaper covers BTW.

My other question is to make a cover with cute fabric do I use PUL and cover/attach my cute stuff over it?

I couldn't get the link to work - will try again later.

I bought a diaper kit and think it was slightly a waste of money. While it was helpful to know what to buy - it didn't come with a specific pattern so I ended up going by the seat of my pants anyway. Also I have found that it is cheaper to just buy the material wou want to use to make the diaper.

I made a cover with cute flannel on the outside and plain white PUL (can't see it) on the inside.
