Oh, this thread is getting MOVED!

But until then.....

I am LOVING Ted Dekker. He's kinda like Stephen King/Dean Koontz, but not really scary. Suspenseful and action-packed.

I adore memoirs, and recently read "The Glass Castle" which was kind of sad, honestly. I also recently read "A girl named Zippy" which I remember being funny.

"Alone in the kitchen with an eggplant" is AWESOME and has RECIPES!!

And you can NEVER EVER go wrong with David Sedaris!

Hope you feel better soon, mama!

I second "A Girl Named Zippy" (Haven Kimmel) and anything David Sedaris (Me Talk Pretty One Day is my fave).

Also (for light, funny, take me away reading):

Lamb by Christopher Moore
Bleachy Haired Honky B**ch by Hillos Gilespie
Straight Man by Richard Russo

Or, go with a classic like A Wrinkle In Time or the Chronicles of Narnia.

Jennifer Weiner (In Her Shoes, etc.), I think, is good for fluffy reads.

I loved Twilight (Book 1), New Moon (Book 2), & Eclipse (Book 3) by Stephenie Meyer. They're a vampire genre YA series that I was totally immersed in while reading.

How about M.F.K. Fisher? Start with The Gastronomical Me.

There's also Dodie Smith's I Capture the Castle, all of the Jeeves and Wooster books, and Cold Comfort Farm. For some reason, my escapist reading is very anglophiliac.
