What do you know about ELISA allergy testing???

You probaby recognize my user name as I post often about our DS's ongoing failure to thrive. I am wanting to look at food allergies as the source, but an elimination diet isn't going to be very helpful in this case as it would take years to slowly reintroduce foods and watch his weight gains/losses with each. I have read a little about the ELISA test and that it can be a good starting point. What do you know about it? How much does this test cost? How accurate is it? Are there many false negatives?? The false positives would be easy enough to sort through via diet, but does it miss allergens frequently too???

I just got back the results from dd's ELISA test. I can't say for sure whether it is all accurate, but I know a lot of it is. I suspected many of the things that came up positive, and she has a lot of positives. I think it can have false negatives though.

I'm glad we did the test because now I know for sure about some of the suspected foods and I can work from there. But I really believe that the cause of all these allergies, her and my leaky guts and faulty digestion, are what I need to address, or more sensitivities will arise.

I only got the results yesterday. But, for example, she had a very high positive for pineapple, and I have been giving her tons of enzymes with bromelain, which is pineapple derived. So it's good to know that I should stop giving those.

The test cost $275 through my naturopath. Not cheap. I won't know whether it was worth it for a while, I guess.

I had the ELISA test done for myself a couple months ago. It didn't show any clear reactions, which was really frustrating because I know my body is reacting to some foods. It cost $219.

Subscribing. I just got ELISA testing done for DS through SAGE labs, because the doc said it was the best thing for his kind of problems, since it tests delayed food reactions. But I am shocked at how many positives it gives, and actually opposite the things we've been eliminating on feingold:

I payed $2079: OMG, I thought this was the going rate.

I don't know how accurate it is that is what I am trying to figure out too. Someone help us.

I got elisa done for myself and DD , I dont think the results are correct, like some of the foods which showed negative still cause allergic reactions etc. Only the foods which had very high numbers on the test were accurate, the ones on the moderate and negative lists are controversial for us, some dont cause any reactions and some do. So, basically it came down to elimination diet for us. we are eating just 10 foods & ingredients in total and still not 100% successful.:
So, its still a work in progress.
