28 Days Later

Did anyone else see this? I've seen it twice. I got to see the alternate ending. I am such a geek when it comes to this movie and I want to talk about it. Like I totally overanalyze it and think too much about it but it really got to me. And if nothing else, that Jim is soooo hot! I am really into diseases and plagues and such and that is what initially attracted me to this movie. But you don't get to see the sickness at work, only the aftereffects. So many times I dreamed i was in 28 Days Later and that is not a pleasant dream. Being a mom made it even creepier because I kept thinking about what it would be like to go through all of that with small children. I'm putting this out as bait and waiting to write more until I hear from others.

I haven't seen it yet but I've been interested in seeing this movie! I felt the same way you did after I saw the Blair Witch Project - overanalyzing everything and even dreaming about it :LOL

I've read great reviews about the cinimatography being "less is more" and that the "undead" or whatever they are in this movie aren't plodding along, catching up with ya a week after you run away from them :LOL but move lightening fast - yikes!

Anyone else?

I saw it. Shudder, shudder, shudder. Scared me to death.

I didn't really have much of an idea of what it was about before I went to see it but a friend told me that she'd really liked it and that it wasn't scary.

I thought that there was some things in the story that I thought were kind of silly (don't want to spoil) but overall it was interesting.

Oh I thought it was soo good! At first, I didn't want to see it because I thought it would just be scary and at this point (due in five weeks) scary movies just make me nauseated cause I get so nervous.

But we went and it was so much better than I thought! I have a weird fascination with end-of-the-world type movies and books, so that's what attracted me to it, but it was much more than that.

It was very beautifully shot, for one. And I thought it was much sadder than scary. I'm not sure what else to say about it, I'll wait to see what others say.

I have had dreams about it too, which are frightening to wake up from.

I am strangely intriqued by this movie and for some reason would like to see it. However...I'm the worlds biggest wimp. When I FINALLY broke down and saw Blair Witch, I wouldnt go in my basement for months (I had a really creepy basement back then, when we lived in a 120 year old house!)

Now if its suspenseful sort of scary...I'm way into it. If its gory-monsters-suddenly-jump-out-at-you sort of scary...I'll probably never see it

This movie was released outside the US first, no? I have seen it. I have a copy of a DVD (on tape). The ending I saw was "HELLO". Is that the same as the version in our theaters? Also, do you see peepee in the beginning?

I loved this movie. LOVED it. Scary, but not monsters and excessive gore. It's scary in the sense that it's not impossible.

I do have to wonder why he didn't have at least a gown on in the beginning, though. Or a SHEET, even. That's the only thing that bugs me. Not that I have a problem with him being nakey...I just think he looked so cold.

doula...what things did you think were silly?

SPOILERS!!

What I thought was silly was once they got to the house with all the military men after the girl's father had died just by a drop of blood in his eye. The leader was going into that courtyard where that zombie was vomiting infected blood all over the ground and jumping and spitting, etc. and he just stood there with only a couple of inches between him and the zombie. I thought it was silly because he didn't seem worried that just one little drop of the huge amounts of blood he was puking up could infect him.

I also thought that it was silly that those guys were ready to throw out all respect for women, etc. out the window just after 28 days and rape them to procreate, get their jollies on, etc. I can't say what no communication with the outside world would do to me in 28 days but I just thought that it was a little extreme to be thinking that they'd be crazy enough to do that already.

The rest of the movie I liked though. The part where he first sees the zombies scared me to death when he comes into the church! Very suspensful!

I agree with you on both points. I thought that was very early to be worried about re-populating the earth. Especially with a teenaged girl. But it made me even more anxious.

The priest. God, the priest. Could have peed my pants. WHY DID HE YELL!? That boy needed to use his very quiet inside voice.
