Moving - what to use to pack?

(I am not sure if this thread belongs here. I already received one OT warning for TAO, related to a similar issue. SO I'm assuming this belongs here)

We are moving. In the past I have packed using cardboard boxes. I never really liked using them because after we got to our destination we had to unpack quickly and the boxes were useless.

Now I'm thinking about using something more sturdy and reusable. We won't be able to unpack most of our things right away, as we won't be into our house for 4 months after the move. We'll be living with someone until then.

Would it be wise to invest in those plastic tubs? Or is there some sort of alternative?

FWIW, we're not taking a lot of "stuff" with us. Well, we don't own a lot of "stuff" but still. I'm thinking we would only need 4 or 5 of the large storage bins.

So any suggestions?

Last time we moved we used bookstore boxes. The boxes were sturdy and all the same size, so it made packing the truck easier. We got them for free from the store, which just recycles them anyway...saved them the trouble. We got a few each week (after the store's weekly shipments) until we were ready to pack.

As far as totes, that is an option if you want to outlay the capital for them and have a use for them afterwards. Certainly things that spend most of their time stored (like holiday decorations) should go into something more permanent...I would just suggest getting the same kind of the same size, so they stack compactly.
