Anyone else wrestling with their LO hen it's time to nurse?

He's moving his head and opening and closing his mouth while batting me away with what seems like 20 hands. I am trying to hold, soothe, restrain his hands, and somehow get a nipple aimed just right when his mouth is wide enough

If I can get to himm before he's upset, it's easier. But when I need to switch sides I change him to wake him up and we wrestle.

That happens over here too, esp. in the middle of the night when he can't see and we're nursing in bed. He's like a chicken pecking for corn and then gets frustrated and starts to cry if I can't shove my boob in his mouth fast enough!

charles pecks like a chick .... he pulls his head back and forth, more or less licking the nipples (which gets milk going, and all over the plkace ...) but getting him to OPEN up to get the nipple IN is a PITA

he also roots, i put him to boob, and he falls asleep on the boob ... "thanks mom, i just wanted it out, i didn't actually plan to EAT"......

Us too.

It's like, "look buddy, you're crossing your eyes and can't focus much beyond your face. Let me drive and you'll get your boob a lot sooner."

We do the pecking chicken dance too, with wildly flailing neck movements.

He'll get more coordinated and figure out what he is supposed to be doing in a few more days. They pick up pretty soon on what gets the milk delivered the fastest and usually it's cooperating with mama!

night is worst

seems liek Charles is pulling away from the nipple, he'll lick it, nuzze it, but not open for it... when i finally get him to oen, he mouthes it, with out latching, and pulls back -- we do that at least 3 times :

ugh

or

he likes to chew on his hand whne i am trying to give him teh boob ..... uh yes i see you chewing you hand to tell mom you want to eat, then move the fist so the boob can get in your mouth

I have been lucky in trying to get baby to boob before she is upset, still she turns her head the wrong way with wonderful bog mouth and I miss it and it takes a little work. She is just so silly about it. We nursed from day one laying on bed and so that helps so much at night. I have a co-sleeper but it holds blankets and cloths and such as she refuses to be any place not or next to touching me. My boobs are great pillows you see. LOL

I do not really swaddle and wondering if I should be doing that. It might help with little hand issues.

lol Brennan is doing that a few times a day, too.... So frustrating b/c he starts shrieking... and if he'd just keep his hands out of the way we'd be on the road to nourishment a whole lot faster! My 4.5 y/o thinks it's hysterical! He says his little bro is boxing against my boobies

Yeah, I really have to trim his nails! Yeowza that hurts when he grabs a boob or drags his fingers across a nipple.

And it's like he needs to nuzzle and lick and get the milk spraying first before he will latch on, which then makes it nice and wet and harder to latch on...

I second the sidelying nursing in bed though, that seems to work well for us when all he wants is a boob and isn't shrieking about needing to poop.

Maybe it's a boy thing. Finley does this too. He is another one that uses his hands too. We call it his Karate moves.
