Whats the best durable fabric for skirts?

What is a fabric that washes well, is sturdy and won't wrinkle too much. Thanks!

Well- I wear denim skirts all the time and they never wear out. I did just make one out of a wool plaid (bought the fabric at a yard sale for 25 cents). It washes well and hasn't wrinkled yet and it was still very easy to sew one. I think it will be quite durable! I make all of my summer skirts out of quilting cotton (because it is pretty) or linen. They wrinkle though.

I have a Libby Dibby skirt that is made of a heavy cotton--almost canvas--and I truly think it will last forever.

Another vote for wool. Maybe a wool blend that is washable (mostly wool and a bit of nylon or something like that). Might need to let it air dry but wool is pretty durable and warm for winter.

Cordoroy. It actually looks better and feels softer the more times you wash and wear it. I find it a bit difficult to handle for sewing. Are you looking to sew a skirt? Your machine may require a heavier needle for cordoroy.

denim, cord, canvas, any of these made from hemp, etc

I've got skirts from thin linen for summer, the denim one I'm wearing right now, plus I have a thin cordoroy skirt, and a black wool skirt, and several rayon skirts I wear in the summer, and several cotton knit skirts that are pretty much worn out now, but held up for several years of constant use.
