Do any of you have experience with taking 5 week formulas? If so, what did you take and do you think it really helped?

Sorry, but what are those? Don't think I ever heard of 5wk formulas.

They are herbal rememdies that you take the last 5 weeks of your pregnancy to help with the labor and delivery. This one is a popular one:

I think that anything that promises quicker births, no postdates, easier labors, etc., really sets women up for disappointment. No herb combination can do that - but if women feel better taking it, then there's no harm.

Everyone is so different.

I thought blue cohosh was one of the herbs used for inducing labor...I know next to nothing about herbs, but that one I would worry about taking 5 weeks early!

My midwife had me take Dr. Christopher's formula which is probably something like that. I went over two weeks overdue taking it. My first was five days early W/O the formula.
Just saying don't count on it!

The reason I was asking about it here was b/c I was looking for what other people's experiences with it were. Part of me wants to take it, but a big part of me is hesitant due to the blue cohosh.

I don't think blue cohosh should be taken in pregnancy. It is for stimulating the production of oxytocin/contrax.

Generally, I think those formulas are a lot of hogwash at best--and set women up for false alarms of labor and great disappointment at worst.

If you are generally healthy, then you just don't NEED these formulas! Trust birth, trust your body, birth will occur just right.

I wouldn't take them personally. I have issues with at least 3 of the herbs in them and frankly don't believe in induction period, even herbal.

I didn't look at the formula but I took red raspberry leaf tea and evening primrose oil. I'm not sure if they did much but my labor was quick and strong...just under 3 hours total. I went into labor at 38 weeks.
