IMAX movies

We took dd, 4 1/2, to a movie at an IMAX dome theater today and she loved it! So did we. We chose a fairly tame film - it was about marine life. A lot of them have more thrill-type stuff, so that you feel like you're moving - rollercoaster ones, for example.

Of course, she wants to see one of the really exciting ones next time...the child is fearless!

Have you taken your child/children to an IMAX film? How did they like it?

We've seen a couple IMAX movies at the movie theater, and also have rented some for viewing at home. We all like them, but we are careful not to get any that are too exciting or scarry. There was one thast my dh took the kids to see that was a kids movie with an ecology theme. It sounded great, I was bummed I missed that one.

DH took them(5&3) to the local natural history museum to see an IMAX movie about Mt. Kilimanjaro. He said the first 15 minutes they were great, then they started to get antsy, and the movie was about 45 minutes long. But the movie itself he said was really beautiful, so even though they got impatient, they enjoyed it.

They do still talk about it a lot. And I love how DD(3) enunciates & says "kil-a-man-JAR-row." So cute.

Yes, we have actuallly seen a few Imax movies, we have a science museum membership and get in for the IMAX movies for a discount. We took dd a while back to see the Everest movie and we saw Fantasy of Flight. Lion King and just recently The Coral Reef. The one about the Coral reef was my favorite one I LOVED it! so did my ds and dd we had a great time.

Mahdokht, an IMAX movie is projected onto a huge screen that is shaped like a dome, so that you truly feel as if you are IN the movie. It's pretty cool. A lot of them use footage to emphasize this, such as footage shot from the front car of a rollercoaster.

Our area has a wonderful aviation museum, and the IMAX theater is housed there.

We took Ds to see Lion King in march. There is a helicopter one playing right now that Dh would love to see.

You wouldn't happen to be in the Hampton Roads area, would you?
