Because of holiday travels, the nurse friend who has been doing our IUIs may not be available in time to assist... can we take our 2 IUI vials, combine them, and just squirt them in ICI style?

Yeah, it's totally safe to do that. The theory is that washed sperm doesn't live as long, however, so you want to get as close to O as possible, but still make sure you have eggwhite cervical mucus.
Also, I don't know that I'd do them together. I think I'd still space them out, just to cover as much of a window as possible.
If you don't normally have mucus, you might try to find some PreSeed lubricant. You can order it online, might be able to find it in a store if time is an issue. DON'T use any other sorts of lube- everything else kills sperm (even spit!).
Good luck!
(And yay for doing IUIs with nurse friends!)

I did a vaginal insem with IUI sperm (and it was successful). The odds are a bit lower, I think, because the sperm have to swim farther and don't have any semen to help them along. I only did one vial at a time - if I had 2 vials I'd do them 12hrs apart. We had originally planned to do 2 at once, but just one seemed to make me feel "full" as if another vial would just spill out. I didn't use any lube, but I have abundant CM.
Mine worked on the first try, but there was certainly luck involved there!

Yes you can. I found ICI to be most successful when you have a great orgasm too because it contracts the and fluids help to tavel the sperm up to meet their mates. Of course, you'll want to hold that up there with a device like the Instead cup. Unlike fresh sperm where you'll have on average 3-8ml's of fluid, washed sperm is if I correctly recall only 1-2 ml or sperm in a preservative (a protein like egg whites.) It's such a small amount that you'll want that lubication.
I dont know how graphic or TMI Im permitted to be on this thread about details of ICI.

Hi. I don't think I've posted here before but we've gotten pregnant 2x using IUI vials as IVI and ICI's. There's not a lot of liquid, so I recommend getting the teensy syringe, not that 5 ml junk they give you free at the pharmacy. Really scope the world for the small one. Otherwise, you'll barely get to plunge at all and have very little control. Practice beforehand with the small syringe and melted ice cream or some other liquid. No, not *really* inserting it, lol, just getting every single darn drop out of your dixie cup and into the vial without spilling and getting the air bubbles out of the vial without spilling. This is one case where the inseminator is truly responsible for the pregnancy, imho. (I take my job seriously)
