first, sorry for any typos, have to hunt and peck due to both wrists being all wrapped up and in pain if i try to move them. my first indicator of pg with dd was when i couldnt type anymore and was in school!! dr said i had pg induced carpul tunnel. now with this pg, they haven't started hurting really till this past night. i literally woke up crying they hurt so bad. anyone else have this? any suggestions? i dont think i'll be peeling the potatoes for dinner today! lol

just took me almost 10 mins to type this!

I've had it really bad this pg too. Some days are better than others, but it's just a "waiting it out" until after I'm not pg anymore.
Since I've had it since about week 14, I've had some time to try some different things.
Things that help:
* positioning, especially at night... for me it's a pretty precarious position, however it involves keeping my arms at an angle that my palms face the floor. This is no easy feat when you have to sleep on your side!
If I sleep on my right side, my right arm has to be in front of me, alongside the length of my body towards my feet. My left arm would be positioned a little behind me, on a raised pillow, as to have a place to rest at all! I cannot sleep with my palms facing UP, nor with my arms above my head in any way.
* massage feels good
* accupressure. for me, i found a spot on the underside of my arm, near my elbows, that when i rest them say, on the edge of a counter or table, the numbness and pain goes away. It's a quick fix for those especially painful times. I wish I could figure out a way to apply the pressure (it's alot of pressure) on a more consistent basis.
*ice!!! this is especially helpful. don't just ice your wrists, but down the entire length of your arm into your elbow area.

It's hard to say if the same positioning or accupressure points will be as effective for you as for me, I think that maybe some areas get more inflamed than others, you may have to try a few different things to see if it's more in the carpal tunnel/medial nerve or the ulnar, i've found i'm affected by both.

I worked on my method for a month or two. I still wake up in a lot of pain some nights. Thank goodness it's not forever!!!

GOOD LUCK!!!

OMG, that is SO WEIRD -- mine just started hurting 2 days ago for no really good reason (I sometimes get carpal tunnel during finals week or whatever, but I'm on vacation right now!). I can't believe this could be pregnancy related -- it SUCKS!
