long shot question

Hi. My dd (almost 18 mos) has had no history of allergic reactions.

Driving home from Thanksgiving last night she started vomiting and has since thrown up 8 or 9 times. She didn't eat much; just turkey, pumpkin, sweet potatoes, oranges- all things she's had before. No one else is sick so I doubt food poisoning.

The ONLY thing I can think of is that I had walnuts for (probably) the first time since she was born. I don't buy them and don't normally choose to eat them, but I did crack open a couple yesterday.

She is breastfed- is there any chance that the walnuts could be causing the vomiting?

Or does she just have some bug?

TIA

If she didn't eat the walnuts directly (which it sounds like she didn't?) I would be suprised if it was indeed an allergic reaction. How soon after eating did she vomit? I don't know...I'm not getting an allergy vibe...

I think there's a possibility its a food allergy. My EBF daughter reacts to foods coming through my breastmilk and one of her symptoms is vomiting...

no-that's true. My ds vomits if I get traces of soy or dairy. It could be.

It could be. I'd watch her closely. If she develops a fever, than she's sick. My dd vomited a lot back when I ate peanuts.

We just got over a tummy bug and it had me wondering if it was illness or food allergy. It started in my infant after he got ahold of a banana (one of the two foods I'm suspecting he's allergic to) but then when my toddler and I got sick, I knew it wasn't an allergy.

Good luck!

Was the vomit mucusy? Then it's definately an allergic reaction. The body starts produces lots of mucus to isolate the allergen and protect itself.

If so, this is a pretty serious allergic reaction. It might lead to anaphylaxis. I would have a blood test done for walnuts and tree nuts.
