Christmas Decorating Anyone?

Stole this from December DDC...

Anyone decorating for christmas or are you all feeling too overwhelmed?

I thought I wouldn't want to get into it all, but I asked DH last night, "Since Thanksgiving is over, when do you want to get the tree?"

Looks like we're going to do it! I had my LAST baby (unless someone hands me another, I am done) and my older two boys are being adopted by my husband and that should be done by Christmas.

So I think this Christmas is just going to be emotionally symbolic for me.

Luckily the baby is young and the others are too old for getting into things or I might have a different outlook about having a tree and decorations!

since i'm still "in waiting," i'm thinking that a little christmas decorating just might be the nesting i need. might have dh get the box of decorations from the garage this weekend--maybe a tree too!

I want to but DH is often "scroogey" and would have to do all the heavy outdoor lite stuff so we will see what gets dne.. that and two kid bdays to wedge in too yikes..

i am sooo in the mood for christmas...i love it...the ambience of the lights, etc...it isn't so much a spiritual or should i say religious/faith based thing for me or my family, but i do love it...yes, i want a tree and megh and i just made a gingerbread house...that was fun although its now caving in...lol looks ok still though...lol megh is stuck i gotta go get her out........

now she's just playin' w/ me...she is in between the end of the couch hanging on to the arm and down by a trunk i have on the side of it...my naked beauty...naked monkey!!!

ooo lisa loeb is playin'...i love her. anyway so what was i sayin....well i'm almost to 1000 MDC posts...woot! woot!

oh i know what i was going to say...the one major thing i left behind in MN was the tubs of christmas ornaments, decorations, etc. VERY SAD for me if i contemplate it all long enough...many years of memories and even some old bells my grandma gave me long ago... and you know, if tom really loved me i'd think he'd send those to me or something...oh but i won't GO THERE. yeah. i want to decorate. we will start anew...

megh wants to flush our final fish...we flushed 2 of them last night and i felt just horrible and cried. they were still hanging on to their lives but barely...i hoped they'd die quicker and not suffer anymore should we flush them. now megh wants to flush the final one...its not doing well either. she is a bit too gung ho about it. she says it needs to die. cuz its a fish and its sick. she is probably right...i don't feel like cryin' right now though...ugh...: oh she's gonna do it.................................ugh. oh i can't watch......: ok i got her to stop. maybe there is fish for our last fishie...

DD is very excited about the lights and trees, so we will probably slowly decorate the house although we are pretty low key minimalistic decoration people. Still, I remember how much I enjoyed lying under the lit tree as a youngster and want her to be able to have the same warm fuzzy memories.

Who knows, maybe I'll even have a kitchen soon and we can do some holiday baking together!

i love to lay under a lit tree too!!!!!! i remember doing this w/ my first love, ben when i was like 13......i remember us talking and the sweetness of our relationship......nice memory. i love hot apple cider (the real stuff, not those icky packaged ones...) w/ cinnamon stix...

holy mackerel i'm getting a huge tight BH right now..........................wow! wow, that was something. maybe this is the start of something...... i'd hope.

I am not decorating this year. DD is 2, and will be climbing the tree and playing with the hooks and everything. I am not going to be able to supervise her 100% when I have a newborn. So no tree this year. Again.

we're definitely decorating. no way DS would let us get away with not doing it. we'll put up stockings, nativity scene (-baby Jesus til Christmas Day), and garland in the next 2 weeks; the tree will go up about a week or so before Christmas and stay up until after new years.

Our nature table gets all changes around here soon and when hubby comes home we will be getting a big living tree to plant outside. Kids and I have been collecting pine cones and putting them in the freezer (De-bug them) and will glue and glitter and ribbon them soon to make garland to put on it.

Not sure if I will get to putting any lights up befor hubby gets home, but I know he will as soon as he can as he knows I love them! DD and I pulled out holiday stuff tonight actually and will dig for more tomorrow and then figure out where things will be going. Fun Fun. I hope I have the energy. I certainly have the spirit. Time for the Light to come from the darkness and for things to get less hard!

Dylan is getting to the age where Christmas is going to be a lot of fun... we will do the tree and stockings, probably not too much more than that. We will probably be struggling to get our shopping done and cards sent this year... I'm not really ready to think about it yet, I guess!

We are pretty minimalistic too, but what we have is special. And we do our own Christmas candy to hand out to people we know. Yummy! I once proved you COULD live an entire two weeks almost exclusively off peanut butter balls (with chocolate coating). Really!!

Starting to make ornaments and decorations with the kids today and will bake the first batch of cookies tomorrow. Decorations will go up soon, too.
Up until yesterday I decided I would hate Christmas with even more passion than usual this year, but as always I get the bug sooner than later and am looking forward to it. After all, we'll have the perfect complete family this year to celebrate.
Presents only for my sis who'll come to visit and the kids, a few cards to closest friends and family and a simple dinner...
I love decorating the tree with dh and getting better every year at avoiding the entire outside stress.

The only thing that sucks is that I miss my family in Germany and the Christmas traditions over there which involve plenty good food and alcohol

We decorated Wednesday night. The in-laws were coming in late that night and we planned to celebrate Christmas with them. I also wanted to do our family Christmas while dh was here, so we decorated early. We did Christmas last night. And now, I get to have a beautiful Christmas tree for the next month!

Remember, unless you currently have a toddler, you better decorate this year, because next year, you'll have to baby proof a lot more! My girls are big enough to keep their hands off the decorations finally, so this is my only opportunity for the next 2 years to have a nice decorations.
