Jonathan David arrived on 11/21/07 at 7:02 p.m. weighing 7 lbs 1.3 oz and measuring 20"!!!
I woke up at 3:30 a.m. to light contractions which lasted all morning, 10-minutes apart. I continued to play with my DD outside until lunch. While she was napping they were light, but went down to 6-minutes apart. I took a couple walks in the rain, visited with neighbors, and wasn't 100% sure how long this would last. The contractions were barely anything that noticeable but enough to know they weren't BH. Since I had been awake for so many hours, I decided to get into the tub at 4:30 p.m. When I got out of the tub I was almost convinced it was just prodromal labor that would last awhile so I cleaned my bedroom and listened to music. Around 6:00 p.m. I felt like I needed to have a BM and went to the toilet, my water popped. Then contractions started coming every minute or so and I told DH we ought to go to the hospital. I had to stop in every bathroom in my house on the way out for BM and contractions and had a lot of very bloody show. DH had to fight me to leave the house (homebirth sounded REAL good right then) and even forced me to pull up my pants and leave! The car ride wasn't bad. We arrived at the hospital at 6:40 p.m. or so. The OB met us there, checked me immediately, and I began pushing. At 7:02 p.m. Jonathan David was born. The OB handed him through my legs (I was leaning on DH, sort of squatting). We watched as the cord stopped pulsating and the OB explained the cord, the placenta, and everything. It was so neat.
It couldn't have been a more picture-perfect birth. My OB was wonderful, very laid-back, and super supportive of my going natural. Plus, I feel great, Jonathan is an excellent little nursling so far, and things are going really well. Of course, despite lack of sleep. I'm exhausted. He nursed every hour last night and fussed in between.
