doin' my part

I just printed out a nocirc pamphlet for my co-worker who is 30+ weeks pregnant. I highlighted some important parts for her. I'm not sure what her feeling are on circ but I hope she will rethink doing it to her baby boy when he is born!!!

Also lending her my copy of "thinking woman's guide to a better birth" and making some other book recommendations.

That's good I'm always trying to 'educate' but I have a hard time doing it without sounding like a total nut case. I think having something to hand them might be the way to go

Yeah, I don't know her outside of work but from what I can gather she's pretty mainstream.... I stalked her BRU baby registry and I see bottles and no breast pump..... soooo.... I'm also printing stuff about BFing

Good I'm a little more open about BFing... it's easier to talk about. They usually say something about being tired all the time and I tell them to BF so they don't have to get up at night. Just keep some diapers by the bed and you never have to leave!

Yay, well she is BFing. I didn't bring up circ yesterday but hoping the pamphlet will open her eyes to what really happens.

That is great that she is going to breastfeed! I think it's great that you've given her the information, I know a lot of moms out there probably wish someone stepped up and did that for them - including me during my 1st pregnancy. I knew nothing about circ and would have done it - thankfully I had a daughter (we never knew until the day she was born). I actually printed out this article and gave it to my BIL's SIL (if that makes any sense LOL).

When I registered at BRU I registered for extra bottles and one of those bottle warmer thingies (I thought it would be handy to thaw frozen BM) but didn't register for a pump. I felt it was too personal and One Step Ahead had the exact kit with all the accessories I wanted. My intactivist mom bought all the circ after care stuff (vasiline, 3 inch guaze squares, etc) on the "you need this stuff if you're having a boy" pharmacy shopping list b/c she didn't realize what it was for. What people buy for the baby can be misleading.
